@IPostAndGhost The big local firm in <everytown> closed up in the nineties and the small shops are owned and operated by dying old men who never had an apprentice and don't want to bother training anyone to replace them. Everything will be sold for scrap metal after their last heart attack.
@inthe307@F530Josh The boomers will liquidate everything that the family ever owned, and everything their kid ever made if they can get hold of it, and pour it into the accounts of the VCs buying all the hospice/elderly storage cabinets.
@rallyjem "known for his purported high intelligence and for a high score on the Mega Test, a self-administered, untimed, non-standardized IQ test that he took under the pseudonym Eric Hart."
@ChurroLover95@uncledoomer new old stuff like Domesticated PawPaws (the native tropical fruit of the USA) would be interesting. Or I heard they figured out a way to make edible cotton seeds by removing the toxic compound.
@PRedAlerto@SecScottBessent If you actually believe there are no homeless people in china, if you are actually that 'cooked' as the kids say, you deserve everything that happens to you.
@ess_forestfire They don't feel like actually developing skill through training and self-discipline to make safe and sane physical takedowns. like usual ICE is going straight to the 'easy' way. They want to be big strong powerful guys, little weedy protestors shaking them off is so embarassing.
@SGuisgond@GrulkeLamonte strong "old man yelling at clouds" impression there, steve-o. Nothing says legitmate research like broad sweeping statements about how 'the youths' are the real problem, not the market or the industry or the city gov or the banks.
@GrulkeLamonte How amazing that you personally went around and found out what literally everyone wanted. And what a coincidence that it matches all the opinions you already held! astounding!
@CXCarroll They could be a great thing and the core of neighborhood interaction- in practice they will always devolve to the control of whoever has the most free time and strongest desire to boss people around.
@CALVINGINEERING@MorbidKnowledge You are in luck, my friend. United Nuclear (https://t.co/d7TZbC9AaF) sells a mighty fine Spinthariscope that is quite a pleasure to see and share with friends and family. Also, Uranium, fantastic glowing paint, lab gear, specialty metallic compounds for home firework making, etc.
@MrDanielBuck "I imagined- I mean, I experienced something just like what I write long-winded complaints about! My complaints are totally legitimate now, really!" Super weird, dude.
@kidibillion@mjsburnr Modern regressive politicians want government that is too small to stop them from doing what they want while being big enough to let them force it into every single bedroom, wallet, doctor's office and up the skirts of every underage schoolgirl.
@Lethal_Giggles@moekaboobs Over and beyond your foolish, foolish statement, empty "public" land like this is never really public, it's held by some property manager paid by the HOA. Would you smile and nod happily if all the 'wasted space' as outlined was owned by another faceless real estate holding corp?
@Lethal_Giggles@moekaboobs and, of course, written right on the amended image, the lot sizes (and presumably houses) in the second image are the same. Just as much yard or just as much shoulder-to-shoulder mcmansion for everyone, plus space being made usable by the community instead of weed-choked lots.
@Lethal_Giggles@moekaboobs Har har har- except in the first example, that land outside their individual plots isn't owned by the homeowners living right there. Having been in and around plenty of 'mature' developments with layouts like this, the 'green space' is just a tangle of brambles behind the fences.
