£49.18 is the standard weekly allowance for asylum seekers.
It's reduced to £9.95 if meals are included with accommodation.
You need a national insurance number to claim benefits or work. Asylum seekers do not have one.
No free phone (or Ipads). Occasionally, sims, or recycled phones are provided by charities.
Just in case anyone is interested in the facts.
The polls are open. Remember that politicians are servants of the people. Today thousands of them across the UK are asking for your vote.
Your vote is precious; it grants power and it removes it.
Use it and remind them never to take it, or you, for granted. #GE2024
Former MI6 chief, Sir Alex Younger gives some Brexit truths.
“Putin would’ve been absolutely delighted by our decision (to leave the EU) and so would Xi.”
“Particularly since I've left office and I've travelled around Europe, I'm profoundly depressed.
“Just nobody mentions the UK. We've made ourselves irrelevant. And this is extraordinary. The beginning part of this century, we were the dominant force. France has effectively eclipsed us and you just don't hear a discussion of us.”
“I think Brexit has Brexit has marginalised us. It was kind of intended to do exactly that.”
‘Twas the night before voting, when all through the nation
People looked up the details of their polling station.
Fibs had been told by politicians desperate for votes
About taxes and housing and those on small boats
While across the UK there was much corruption chatter
With Conservative candidates keen to sidestep the matter
Knocking on doors, they found the public most vocal
They begged: “Please support us; we’re not Tories, we’re local!”
With Lib Dem Ed Davey having the time of his life
And Farage returning to cause Tory strife
They left Keir's Labour troops well placed for success
All set for five years to clean up the mess
Campaigning all done, the teams gave a whistle,
Raced back to London at the speed of a missile
But I heard them exclaim, as they got on their bus
“HAPPY ELECTIONS TO ALL, AND PLEASE VOTE FOR US!”
Politicians everywhere, regardless of their party or ideologies, are only doing their job if they're constantly striving to make things better for the all of the people they serve. You get to decide if they're doing that at every election. It's the only bar that should matter.
🚨 IMPORTANT
London: latest updates show voting numbers are low, which means the risk of the Tories winning just skyrocketed.
Tell everyone you know right now: vote by 10pm tonight or we could wake up to a Tory nightmare.
Remember you need photo ID.
