@SJShissler Neither of my schools have a technology club that I am aware of. It's interesting that you pose this question as I have thought of possibly starting a coding club at one of my schools ever since we completed the Scratch assignment in EDT 6010. #wuedt6020
@AlexTrace27 I find planning EdTech lessons more time consuming at first because of the need to learn new programs and design new content within those programs. The upside of this is time saved down the road when this lesson is used again! #wuedt6020
@SchafflerCHS Great question! Different subjects may need a different structure in the LMS to optimize presentation of the material. So long as a course is well-organized and designed with ease of use in mind, I think it is okay for teachers to have autonomy in design decisions. #wuedt620
Hi #wuedt6020 colleagues - check out my blog post on the topic of Learning Analytics, and feel free to share your thoughts by leaving a comment! https://t.co/qMYYzoedKd
@tucker_teach I agree that relationships are important, and AI doesn't know how to do that yet. However - is there a formula for relationship building? Could we program a computer to do it? Personally I think it's possible, if only in the distant future. #wuedt6020
Computer processing has become progressively more powerful over time and is estimated to continue to become even stronger in the future. Will AI reach a point where it surpasses the teaching abilities of even the most capable human educators? #wuedt6020
@papayapappas AI-based learning supports and virtual "coaches" are an emerging trend right now and are likely to develop quite a bit during this decade. I look forward to seeing how this technology develops and the extent to which it shows up in our classrooms in the near future! #wuedt6020
@ShannonZeccola@ChallburgTeach@McCoolWILMu@EdTechLaura Shannon, the connection between SEL and in-person instruction is interesting. I now wonder if the rise of SEL as a current "hot topic" in education is an effect of the proliferation of technology use among today's youth, both inside and outside the classroom. #wuedt6020
@JoyMac22@EdTechLaura Joy, the information shown in this graph is compelling. Where did the data come from? What is the age range of the students, subject matter, etc.? I think flipped learning can work in certain classrooms but that it should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. #wuedt6020
@EdTechLaura I think an eclectic approach that blends traditional face-to-face and technology-enriched instruction is best. Students have different learning needs - not all will benefit equally from a specific modality. A diverse approach to instruction reaches more students. #wuedt6020
@DHS_CoachClark@EdTechLaura@McCoolWILMu Robert, sports games like basketball and badminton are some of the things I remember best from my PE classes. I too am curious as to what tech-based games are out there to teach important concepts in health & phys ed. #wuedt6020
@mrsyoungchs@EdTechLaura@McCoolWILMu Kelly, learning games are something I would like to incorporate more into my classes as well. I have noticed that my students love to play games on their iPads, even those grounded in an academic discipline like math. #wuedt6020
@EdTechLaura@McCoolWILMu One emerging trend I would like to incorporate is learning analytics. As I begin to use tech-based apps to assess students and compile data on their progress, I want to use that data to make decisions to improve learning outcomes. #wuedt6020
