@MichelleDech3 My co-teacher also started a folder called graded assignments. After we complete an assignment in class a link is provided in that folder so the students can easily see everything that is supposed to be done. #wuedt6020
Week 6 - LMS like Schoology and Canvas are part of the classroom environment. Do you think teachers should have autonomy in how their courses look or should schools mandate a certain format to ensure ease of use for students? #wuedt6020
@khainsey22 I am hoping the need of being given a format to follow will lessen once students and teachers become more efficient with the platform. I think a lot of the issues right now are that most do not understand most of the functions in LMS.
@tucker_teach@slynchmed I agree that there needs to be a happy medium between autonomy and structure. As a special education teacher, I help students navigate quite a few Schoology pages and it can be very overwhelming.
@slynchmed I feel as though some districts have put too many restrictions on the formatting which has led to frustration for staff. On the other hand, it is beneficial to students because it takes away the guesswork of trying to figure out how to navigate the course.
@MichelleDech3 I agree that a similar layout is beneficial for students and parents. What is your layout like? My district asks for labeled weekly folders.
@SJShissler@MrKppnhvr I agree with the student accountability piece. Students fell out of their school routine (classes were shorter, less homework was given and less interaction with peers). Now that we are back in school students do not have the stamina that they once did. wk5 #wuedt6020
@tucker_teach@slynchmed I agree that building relationships are essential for children. We have seen through the pandemic the detrimental effects the lack of social interaction had on our students and classrooms. I know that I am a better teacher when I get to interact with my learners. #wuedt6020
@BlakeMusicTeach My district gave TOO MUCH tech in the beginning with very fast training. Since then, we have not had much additional training to enhance what we were given or have questions answered. It has pretty much been my job with the help of peers to figure it out. Week 5 #wuedt6020
@khainsey22@EdTechLaura I agree that tech provides students options that fit their likes and dislikes. Instead of standing in front of the classroom for a presentation, they can now make a screencast and share the same information without the anxiety that may have kept them from even trying. #wuedt6020
@Carolin99750791@McCoolWILMu@EdTechLaura I agree that EdTech does not limit us to places. Many of my students have to miss school for a multitude of reasons. The tech provides them 24/7 access to their classes, content, and teachers which increases their engagement. #wuedt6020 Week4
@EdTechLaura Edtech is better than traditional learning because of the 24/7 access to content and teachers. It is more engaging and feedback can be instantaneous. It provides a multitude of opportunities to meet the diverse student need that exist in our classrooms. #wuedt6020 week4
@EdTechLaura@McCoolWILMu An emerging trend I would like to incorporate into my classroom is deeper learning. Adding more problem-based learning (PBL) will engage students with real-life situations while working on crucial 21st-century skills like communication and critical thinking. #wuedt6020
@HannumKendra I am always looking for ways to get my students more engaged and I think that gamification and mobile learning will do just that! Students love games and always seem motivated by competition. #wuedt6020 Week 3
@ShannonZeccola I agree that SEL is crucial to helping the "whole child" learn. Children learn best when they are in an environment where they feel safe, comfortable, and accepted. When they feel this way they are more apt to take the risks needed to learn new material. #wuedt6020 Week 3
