@tucker_teach Surprisingly, no. If you give up you have no way of moving up! I remind my students that itโs anyones game up to the last question. If someone at the top of the leaderboard gets it wrong it opens the door for someone to sneak in there!
@ShannonZeccola Our school district has a tech department as well as district technology coaches that are available for assistance. I do feel that teachers are the first line but we have additional support for parents and tech needs.
@mrsyoungchs We donโt have this issue at the elementary level but I do feel there needs to be some guidelines for in the classroom at the secondary level. If they are being used for school related things but how is that monitored?
@SchafflerCHS I think each teacher should be able to customize their course. I can see the challenge though for students who have multiple teachers or for related arts classes where it could be beneficial to have more uniform look. Maybe a mix of both is the solution.
@SJShissler Our school offered an enrichment camp over the summer that was tech based - coding and general tech. Nothing that I am aware of is outside of the classroom during the school year. I think itโd be a great idea though!
@tucker_teach Pros - shows what students know cons - need devices and some students may just answer to answer quick without thinking about the question.
@tucker_teach I love using Kahoot! and the students also love it. Itโs nice to be able to see what the students know and what they are still struggling with. I use Kahoot! as a review tool in the health classroom. Our school has even done school wide Kahoot! family night!
@EdTechMilkshake While technology in education is becoming more and more common, I do feel there needs to be a limit. Too much screen time is not beneficial for students. They need to have hands on opportunities as well as opportunities to build social skills.
@klineawilmu I would definitely say Google tools. I love using Google slides for my lessons. They have helped me make sure I donโt miss information in my instruction and they help provide visuals for my students to make it fun and engaging!
@DHS_CoachClark@EdTechLaura We do a mindful moment each class. Most of the time itโs embedded into my Google Slides and is just a short 2-3 minute video other times we take a minute and focus on breathing before/after a transition
@ChallburgTeach@McCoolWILMu I am a huge fan of the functionality of Google tools. I use slides daily for my health lessons as well as a platform for student projects (both individual and group). Forms also provide an easy way for students to answer questions or surveys anonymously. #wuedt6020
Twitter Chat (Week 5): It has been said that EdTech improves student-teacher connection. What does this look like in your classroom and how do you feel technology has enhances those connections? #wuedt6020
@papayapappas@EdTechLaura Great point. I like to think it will eventually help them and allow them to build that confidence for public speaking as it provides practice even if to a computer screen. Providing a stepping stone to communicating in public settings.
@JoyMac22 I agree, virtual teaching is a whole new world and has definitely forced a lot of us to put our creative caps back on or turn them into overdrive to meet the needs of our students. Technology has helped with a lot of that.
@klineawilmu@EdTechLaura I like youโre thinking. Youโre right, maybe not better but different. Tech provides options that traditional learning does not allow. Students learn in a variety of ways and tech provides a tool to help us reach more students.
@djdanij7 Iโve always been told 5-7 minutes, smaller chunks are better for keeping attention and focus. Even as an adult after 7 minutes I start to lose focus #wcuedt6020
Twitter Chat (week 3): How do you incorporate Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies into your classroom? What have you found to work best for the grade level you teach? #wuedt6020
