Newly released body camera footage of Georgia deputies stopping a majority-Black lacrosse team's bus shows the officers rifling through the players’ personal items — after the sheriff asserted the deputies did no such thing. - @NBCBLK https://t.co/uFhDcQ61g2
@SchafflerCHS This is a hard one! I think that this should be discussed at least at a team or grade level so that it is partially consistent in some way. I struggle with supporting my non-tech-savvy ELL parents when I don't know how my teammates set their Schoology courses up!

@mrsyoungchs I think that with the 1:1 ratio, cellphones are not necessary. I also find it challenging when cellphones are being used inappropriately. We have more control over school devices, but I get anxious about what kids are able to do and access on their phones! #wuedt6020
@kevin_wolgemuth One challenge I've noticed this past week especially is when the Web2.0 tools are unavailable, or inactive. For example, when our Schoology pages are down. Much of my resources are digital so a quick solution is challenging! It's often a quick trip to the copier! #wuedt6020
Week 6: While it is important to acknowledge the challenges, we must praise our accomplishments! I know I have grown a lot just this year alone, and know there are new things I will still learn. #wuedt6020
@slynchmed I'm excited to see how virtual coaches pan out, especially after this year. With short staffing, district coaches were the 1st to be lost within our district, and to not have that check-in has really made a strain between the three middle schools with pacing and data! #wuedt6020
@jacalynj11 I wish I could spend time pulling SEL lessons with social media. I think many 11-to 14-year-olds struggle with the concept of positive posting and kindness on social media. I think now more than ever, we as teachers/support should be addressing this issue! #wuedt6020
@ChallburgTeach@McCoolWILMu This is a very important point, I think this alleviated a lot of pressure we had to continue instruction for students who were "remote learning" while they were quarantined. With projects, I asked students to zoom and work with their classmates digitally on slides!

@jacalynj11 I like to use social media when talking about credibility! A lot of students like to believe the first thing they see online, especially on Tik Tok, and Instagram. When we do our "evaluating sources" lesson, we spend time evaluating digital sources as well! #wuedt6020
@AlexTrace27@EdTechLaura I think you're right, that in order for ed-tech to truly work, there needs to be a blend with the new and the old! I also feel that ed-tech is so new, and changing so rapidly, that it will take a while to find the "right shoe that fits."
@klineawilmu@SchafflerCHS@EdTechLaura Amy, you brought up a major point! This 24/7 access is wonderful, but I agree that there should be explicit restrictions so that teachers and students aren't overworking themselves because of this newfound convenience. There's a time for school and a time for home. 🙂
@khainsey22@EdTechLaura I agree that there is a sense of confidence for those shy students! But, does it negatively impede their ability to communicate in person? I love reading students' work digitally/watching them collaborate digitally, but I struggle with them physically communicating thoughts.
@EdTechLaura The pandemic sped up the implementation of ed-tech. With a high demand for individualized instruction that can be done remotely, we found great success for these supports. Ed-tech isn't an instructional replacement, it should be equally balanced with live instruction. #wuedt6020
@AlexTrace27@EdTechLaura@McCoolWILMu I am right there with you! I also love that flipped classroom almost forces students to work toward independence and accountability. I really want to be able to focus on those higher needs students, without taking away from the successful students!
@ShannonZeccola@EdTechLaura@McCoolWILMu I totally agree! I also think that using gamification platforms can build a stronger sense of community with students, as well as help with that "buy-in" we all hope for! Once they are more involved, I feel that SEL engagement improves. #wuedt6020
@EdTechLaura@McCoolWILMu The emerging trend that I would like to implement more consistently in my classroom is flipped classroom. I believe that flipped classroom is a support that helps combat the inconsistent face-time we are having with some students. I want it to be a norm in Schoology! #wuedt6020
