Oceanographer & Molecular Biologist - still sad-tweeting here and clinging to this platform in the dwindlinghopes it returns to the scientific glory it once was
Our work on cryptic infection of giant viruses was published today in @ScienceMagazine. We discovered a large virus hiding within a green algal genome producing virions.
Collaborative effort spearheaded by Virginia Tech, @univmiami & NIOZ scientists.

Conference dinner for #algalbbb - what an epic location!!! Well done organizers. Great weather, dolphins, and rainbows. Couldn’t be better. @ElsevierConnect
Onyou Nam presenting a great talk on diatoms at #algalbbb@mackinderlab and sharing their lab’s tools to localize proteins to the Thalassiosira pseudonana pyrenoid
#algalbbb 2024 is here! Conference starts today. Excited to be here in Clearwater, Florida to see everyone, talk to students and colleagues, and hear all the latest in the world of algal research
I'll be presenting a plenary talk at #AlgalBBB 2024 this year - it's exciting to see how much the algae industry has grown since I became involved with it during my PhD studies in 2008. Very honored to be attending this conference and excited to see algae colleagues! Who's going?
Next week @WHOI#ExOIS will gather an international team of experts to discuss the design and implementation of the next generation of #OceanIronFertilization field experiments using the best science and technology available. #mCDR#OIF

@Th_Mock ahhh I'm so sorry to hear this! A giant in the field certainly. Aquatic Photosynthesis has been something of a bible to me throughout my studies and career. What a loss, and what a legacy.
Postdoc opportunity for someone who wants to use climate models to evaluate crazy ideas aimed at reducing the amount of climate change.

We're still looking for a postdoc in metabolic modeling and culture-based validation. If it sounds like you, reach out to discuss!

Glad to see this in @nytimes and glad this scientist found a solution that works for her. The dilemma is real, and unfortunately taking kids into the field is not an option for many of us. We need to keep thinking creatively about how to support (and retain) moms in the field.
