Johnstown Castle (Co. Wexford) recorded 731.5 hrs of sunshine during summer 2026.

That is the highest seasonal sunshine total I know of out of any Irish station since Rosslare had 796.8 hrs back in the summer of 1959 (the Irish record).

@CarlowWeather And I'd imagine unlike last year which 2025 being the warmest on record was heavily skewed because of how small the station network considered is, this warmest on record title is more representative with Malin Head probably skewing it down.

Ireland weather trends during strong El Niño events (a sample size of only 8) from autumn to spring.

The only definitive trend for winter I can see there is a strong bias for a wet, windy and mild December. Signal there for a calm October and wet November as well.

Wireless charging was the biggest load of crap ever.

1) It has a wire, the very same wire you could just plug into your device and charge significantly faster.

2) You can't easily use the device whilsts it's charging. As opposed to just holding it with a cable

It's just mental how much summer 2026 bet the previous summer CETs of 1976 and 2025.

August 2026 CET finished at 18.6C making it the second year this decade to have two 18C CET months in the same year. Only 1911, 1995 and 2022 had achieved that before.

This summer was the hottest in the Central England Temperature series, which stretches back to 1659, with a mean temperature of 18.50ºC. This is the first summer to have a mean temperature of ≥18ºC, beating 1976 and 2025; an extraordinary summer.

Summer 2026 was the warmest summer on record in Kilkenny with a mean of 17.3° beating our old record of 17.1° from 1995.
There was very little rainfall between June 19th & Aug 24th but the wet end ensured it wasn't even in the top ten driest. Our driest summer remains 1976.
