How do you identify an Extremist?

I want to explain to you all how to identify an extremist.

Why am I saying this? It’s for two reasons.

First, in our society today, extremism has now become a buzzword that people throw around especially if they don’t agree with you. It is also used by ignoramuses to show disdain towards any Muslim they perceive to be unbending to what they see as standard practice.

To spite him/her, they are quick to label him an extremist. This is pure ignorance.

Second, because as a society, we should be knowledgeable on how to identify the signs, traits and identities that extremists possess so that we can be wary of such people and also to take necessary legal actions on them.

In 2017, Abubakar Shekau (may the curse of the Almighty be upon him and everything he represents) wrote a book titled: Risalah fi Bayan Mafhum al-Islam wa-Diddihi wa-at-Taghut wa-al-Madaris al-Gharbiyyah.

In English, the book is titled: The Message on the Meaning of Islam, Its Contrary, Taghut, and Western Schools. This book was his ideology around “Boko Haram”

After getting a grasp of this book, there are 6 traits in him that I want to point out. Anyone who has any of this traits in his belief is an extremist. And he should be labeled as one.

If you are a Muslim, don’t be surprised by the above quote. This is the prophecy of the Prophet playing out in HD. These people fit every description of the Khawarij. The Prophet called them the dogs of Hellfire.

Long ago, the Prophet (peace be upon him) warned us about this group who would use extreme outward piety to mask dark and violent hearts.

He said:
يحقر أحدكم صلاته مع صلاتهم، وصيامه مع صيامهم، يقرءون القرآن لا يجاوز تراقيهم، يمرقون من الدين كما يمرق السهم من الرمية
"One of you will look down upon his own prayer when compared to their prayer, and his fasting when compared to their fasting. They will recite the Quran but it will not go beyond their collarbones. They will pass through the religion just as an arrow passes through its target."

Do not be surprised if they killed Mr. Michael Oyedokun and Deacon John Olaleye. No one is safe with them, not even the Prophet himself.

They were the ones who slaughtered the noble companion Abdullah ibn Khabbab alongside his pregnant wife. They are the same breed of extremists who assassinated Ali ibn Abi Talib.

This is to tell you that the number one enemies of Muslims are ISWAP, Boko Haram and co. They hijack the religion and use it as a cover for pure evil.

Their long prayers and recitations will not save them. Their punishment is coming. Justice will catch up with them in this life and the hereafter.

Islam first means judging people by their character and conduct, not by their race, tribe or social status.

Islam first means having the courage to say "my people are wrong" when they are wrong and "my opponent is right" when he is right.

Islam first means submission to God above every ideology, ethnicity, race, tribe, nation and worldly interest.

That is why a Muslim says Islam first, not because he hates his people, but because he believes that the best guarantee of justice, peace, dignity, security and human flourishing is to place the guidance of Allah above every other loyalty.

Dear Muslim Men,

Polygyny is halal in Islam, but abusing it is sinful.

Far too many muslim men speak about their “right” to marry multiple wives, yet ignore the heavy responsibilities, justice, and accountability that come with it. Islam did not permit polygyny as a tool for oppression, emotional abuse, manipulation, neglect, or selfish desires. Allah permitted it with strict conditions, warnings, and responsibilities.

Allah says in the Qur’an:
“If you fear that you will not deal justly, then marry only one.”
Surah An-Nisa 4:3

Allah tied the permissibility of polygyny to justice, not desires, not ego, not oppression. Justice.

A man who practices polygyny without fairness is not practicing the sunnah, he’s just satisfying his libido and he is risking the anger and punishment of Allah.

The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever has two wives and inclines to one of them, he will come on the Day of Resurrection with one side leaning.”
Sunan Abu Dawud, Jami’ at-Tirmidhi.

Many men enter polygyny while lacking emotional maturity, financial stability, patience, leadership, or basic fairness. Some men neglect one wife emotionally while showering the other with attention. Some abandon their children. Some weaponize religion against women by silencing their pain with “Allah made it halal.” Some men lie, manipulate, gaslight, and destroy homes under the banner of “following the Sunnah.” This is not righteousness.

The Prophet ﷺ was the best example of a husband. He was just, gentle, emotionally intelligent, financially responsible, and deeply considerate of his wives’ feelings. Even when his wives became jealous, he treated them with patience and mercy. He never used Islam to humiliate or emotionally crush them.

Many Muslim men today want the authority of polygyny without the discipline, sacrifice, and accountability that come with it.
Islam did not command every man to practice polygyny. It is permissible, not obligatory. And something being halal does not mean every person is capable of handling it correctly.

A man should ask himself honestly:
Can I truly be just?
Can I provide fairly?
Can I protect the emotional wellbeing of all parties involved?
Can I stand before Allah and answer for how I treated His servants?

Some men enter polygyny while knowing fully well they cannot maintain justice. Some abandon responsibilities, create rivalry between wives, and emotionally traumatize women and children. Then when the damage becomes visible, they defend themselves by saying, “But Allah made it halal.”

Halal does not remove accountability.
Halal does not mean everyone should practice it.
Polygyny isn’t a must.

A Muslim man has every right to practice what Allah made permissible, but he does not have the right to wrong people in the process.

Fear Allah concerning women, concerning children, and concerning the amanah (trust) placed upon you.

Because on the Day of Judgment, it will not simply be about how many wives a man had, but how justly, mercifully, and responsibly he treated them.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

"You see the believers in their mercy, love, and compassion for one another like a single body. When one part of the body suffers, the whole body responds with sleeplessness and fever."

As Eid-ul-Fitr approaches, many of us are concerned about our Eid clothes being ready, filling our fridges with food, and buying gifts for our children so they can celebrate with happiness. Yet, many indigent Muslims are worried about something far more basic—what they will eat on the day of Eid.

Our brothers and sisters who are in dire need are part of this Ummah, and their hardship should move our hearts to act. This is why Zakat-ul-Fitri was prescribed—so the poor and vulnerable can share in the joy and dignity of Eid.

Your Zakat-ul-Fitri can be a lifesaver for families who have nothing to prepare for the blessed day. We humbly seek your support to ensure that as many indigent Muslims as possible have food on their tables and a reason to smile on Eid day.

Kindly entrust us with your Zakat and Zakat-ul-Fitri, and we will ensure it reaches the most vulnerable members of the Ummah.

What Does the Sharīʿah Say?

BismiLlāh

This issue is not based on emotion, culture, or personal opinion. It is based on evidence from the Qur’ān, Sunnah, and scholarly understanding.

The Foundation: Islam Does Not Intend Hardship Allah says:

“Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship". Qur'an 2:185.

“Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity.” Qur'an 2:286.

This is the principle.

Are Pregnant and Breastfeeding Women Allowed to Break Their Fast?

Yes, if there is genuine hardship or fear of harm. The Prophet (ṣallāLlāhu 'alayhi wa sallam) said: “Indeed Allah has lifted half of the prayer from the traveler, and He has lifted fasting from the traveler, the pregnant woman, and the breastfeeding woman.”

This shows a concession exists. But the ruling depends on the situation.

Different Scenarios

✅ Scenario 1: She fears harm to herself. For example: Extreme weakness, Medical risk, and Doctor’s advice.

Ruling: She breaks her fast and makes up (qaḍā’) later, like a sick person.

This is the majority opinion.

Scenario 2: She fears harm to the baby only. For example:
Reduced milk supply
Risk to fetal health

Here scholars differed:

Majority (Mālikī, Shāfiʿī, Ḥanbalī): She makes up the fast later. Some say she also feeds a poor person per missed day.

Ḥanafī opinion: She only makes up the fast, no fidyah required. This difference is well known among classical scholars.

Scenario 3: She is able to fast without harm.

If fasting does not harm her or the baby, then fasting remains obligatory. Pregnancy or breastfeeding alone does not automatically cancel fasting.

Is There an Opinion That Fidyah Alone Is Enough?
There is a reported view from some early scholars (including narrations from Ibn ʿAbbās and Ibn ʿUmar that pregnant and breastfeeding women may feed without making up the fast.

However, the majority of jurists did not adopt this as the stronger ruling.
They considered pregnancy and breastfeeding temporary conditions.
Therefore they fall under the category of temporary illness, which requires qaḍā’. Some modern scholars also hold this view.

Important Clarifications:
🔹 It is not a sign of weak īmān to break the fast under valid excuse.
🔹 It is not a sign of superiority to endanger oneself or the child.
🔹 Islam balances devotion with preservation of life.

The Sharīʿah protects:

Religion
Life
Intellect
Lineage
Wealth

Preserving life comes before voluntary hardship.

Practical Advice
Consult a trustworthy Muslim doctor.
Be honest about your physical condition.
Do not follow cultural pressure.
Do not judge other mothers.
Every case is individual.

Summary:
✔ If harm is feared, she may break her fast.
✔ She makes up the fast later.
✔ Fidya is a matter of scholarly difference when fear is only for the child.
✔ If no harm exists, she fasts.

May Allah reward our mothers for every sleepless night, every contraction, every drop of milk, and every sacrifice they make.

The Sultanate received reports of Ramadan crescent sightings from three different locations within Nigeria, and these claims were confirmed by the authorities in the respective areas where the sightings were reported. AlhamduliLlāh, the current weather conditions in Nigeria are quite favourable, and we are still enjoying relatively longer nights. This gives us sufficient time for rest, Qiyām, and Suḥūr without unnecessary haste.

For now, Suḥūr can comfortably extend to around 5:00am up to about 5:45am (depending on your specific location and the confirmed time of Fajr), and it remains safe within this period. It is important, however, that everyone confirms the exact Fajr time for their locality and stops eating a few minutes before it enters to avoid doubt.

As for Tahajjud, there is no need to rush. The night is long enough to allow adequate rest before rising for prayer. One may begin Tahajjud from around 4:00am, or even 5:00am if properly prepared, and still have enough time for heartfelt du‘ā’, istighfār, and Suḥūr. May Allāh make it easy for us and grant us barakah in our nights and days. Āmīn.

In 2018, after my mum died,I dedicated my WhatsApp status to posting 2 pages of the Quran for her, everyone that reads from her status, the reward goes to my mother in grave, and I did that for a year, then my WhatsApp status will be like waist bead,E go long ehn, I guess some people even muted my status then, sometimes,my WhatsApp will hang 🤣🤣, during this period,I went to NYSC camp,2 days to leaving camp,my phone and 2 others was stolen from our room, I told Allah,if not for anything else, for the 2 pages of Quran I'm posting daily,let me see my phone back.
Lo and behold,my phone was d last thing I was handed back before leaving camp, that's how high the belief was then.

Ramadan starts soon, I want to embark on this journey again,and now,for more reasons
The rewards of every arabic read by everyone,let Allah illuminate my mums grave and that of the whole entire Muslim dead.

Open Letter To
All Yorùbá Leaders:
Governors, Political Office Holders, Imams, Pastors, Traditional Rulers, Community Leaders, and Citizens,

Do not keep silent.
Do not fold your arms.
Do not pretend that all is well.
Do not ignore the legitimate concerns of our people.
Do not allow temporary distractions to divert our attention.

A serious security crisis is already at our doorsteps and affects every one of us, regardless of tribe, faith, or political affiliation. Farmers in rural areas can no longer go to their farms in safety, travellers are kidnapped on our highways, and innocent citizens live in fear.

We therefore call on our governors and security agencies to act swiftly and decisively by:

1. Strengthening border patrols and check-points between states to curb the movement of criminals and illegal arms.
2. Carrying out intelligence-led operations to clear forests and bushes that have become hideouts for kidnappers, bandits, and other criminal elements – no matter where they come from.
3. Establishing a proper, voluntary, and modern resident registration system (with biometric features) in collaboration with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) so that we know who lives among us and can more easily identify strangers with criminal intent.
4. Equipping and empowering Amotekun and other state security outfits with the resources, training, and legal backing they need to protect lives and property.
5. Promoting ranching and modern livestock management so that herders and farmers no longer clash over land and water resources.

The forest is not a home for any law-abiding human being. Those who hide there to commit crimes must be flushed out through coordinated, professional security operations – not through jungle justice or ethnic profiling.

This challenge is bigger than religion, bigger than party politics, and bigger than individual or sectional interest. It is time for all of us to truly “rónú” (to think deeply and act wisely).

To any Muslim who sees known muslim terrorists as “brothers in faith,” who supports Gumi’s negotiations with bandits, who praises Deborah’s killers or carries the same ideology, may Allah expose your hypocrisy, hold you accountable and humiliate you.

May Allah make you taste the sadness that Deborah’s family carries and the pain that the families of the Kebbi schoolgirls are going through.

May Allah cleanse this Ummah from those who use Islam to justify oppression, hatred, and violence.
And may Allah protect the innocent Muslim and non-Muslim from those who hide behind this religion to commit evil.

No, that’s not why it isn’t Jihad. It isn’t Jihad because it does not respect any of the values upon which a Jihad can be built or done. In Jihad, women, children and non-combatant men must not be killed or harmed; houses of worship especially Chruch and Mosque and those who seek refuge within their walls must never be attacked; properties including food, plants and trees cannot be attacked; and animals cannot be attacked.

There is none of such rule that the terrorists obey. In addition to that, they blaspheme by shouting the name of Allah as they commit their crimes and distort the meanings of the Qur’ān to create some sense of justification for their crimes, a great blasphemy against God and faith.

The Jihad of Usman Dan Fodio was entirely different. Although, he launched the Jihad against the Hausa Muslim rulers, his reasons include:
1. The persistent persecution of his followers by the Hausa ruler (Yunfa) for nothing except that Usman was preaching against the widespread syncretism and distinguished himself as an incorruptible scholar. Nutshell, he could not be used by the ruler like other scholars of the time;

2. Many Muslims among his followers were killed, their Hijabs restrained, their properties seized, many were jailed needlessly and constantly humiliated by the Hausa ruler of the time;

3. There was a grave injustice and tyranny being committed by the leaders etc.

All of that among others were the reasons why his Jihad targeted the leadership of the Hausa to remove them from power and establish a system that he believed would guarantee peace and safety for all Muslims.

Although, critiques will continue to discuss the motive and method of his Jihad, comparing him with these terrorists is a distortion of history and disservice to the good efforts he made including in promoting education and literacy, working against the Almajiri system, advocating for women education and a general reform in the Hausa communities.
