Most people have heard of Solar Flares- intense eruptions of energy from a single spot on the Sun☀️💥
But did you know there are tiny bursts accompanying these eruptions- bursts that may hold the key 🔑to understanding where exactly all that energy goes...

🚨🚨🚨New paper alert! Hot off the press!!🚨🚨🚨
Check out our open-access paper on the Prevalence of Non-Stationarity in solar QPPs- just published in MNRAS here: https://t.co/tYD0M5eJpB ☀️📰
👇 And here's a quick thread on what we found out 👇

@northland_linz Thank you! We divided the flare into halves defined by the peak of the flare, so that the impulsive and decay phases had equal durations, like this:

That's it for this study, but we're excited to see what other secrets QPPs hold! 🌟👩💻❔

Was this overly ambitious for my first attempt at designing paper piecing? Probably! Is it perfect? No! Am I proud of it anyway? Fuck yeah. Edward Teach aka Blackbeard as played by Taika Waititi in Our Flag Means Death 🏴☠️🏳️🌈 #ourflagmeansdeathfanart#OFMDfanart#OurFlagBBC
Congratulations to @SolarTish, who successfully defended her thesis today. Tish's thesis studies quasi-periodic solar signals. Thanks to @karoff and Valery for acting as examiner.
Delighted to have been awarded the Warwick Wows Award alongside Ally Caldecote and Paul Warwick for our work on the Christmas Lectures over the past five years!
So glad to hear the appreciation for the work that goes on behind the scenes and cant wait to see what 2023 brings 🎉
Our Warwick Wonders and Wows are *back*!
Nominated by our colleagues, these awards celebrate the amazing people we work with and the work that we do together
Congratulations to:

@f_osis lots of safety pins, and start pinning from the middle out. I usually mark out a few reference points on the back and front fabrics before pinning to make sure they're approximately lined up👍
