@mattleeanderson@AnnaKateShelt I thought it was interesting that you stayed focused on the medicalization/anti-healing argument, as distinct from the more familiar Catholic "openness to children" argument.
@burgundy202@thejjalvarez@seanfeucht That's your reading of it. Isn't a more plausible understanding of his post is that he's simply contextualizing why a verse that is making reference to the children of Israel has relevance to Christians as well?
@roddreher Bless your heart Rod. Don't you know that among the woke, "error has no rights." David Brooks is guilty of wrongthink, and therefore he is the enemy, and therefore he must be destroyed. It's that simple. Don't let facts or principles muddy the waters!
@LukithunderEWC@roddreher@michaelbd@ToryAnarchist Interesting. I definitely got the vibe from his podcasts that he voted for him in 2024. At the very least, I'm pretty sure he didn't vote for Harris.
@stephenaltrogge@mattleeanderson I think "whether it's OK" depends on if you are trying to establish an optimum method for learning (which, in Matt's view I think, involves personally wrestling with difficult ideas) or some other criterion. Whether it violates rules of academic honesty seems to miss the point.
@WilliamWolfe@megbasham Fake news. Uses innuendo to imply that these individuals or organizations are in favor of abortion when they all have a long history of the exact opposite. It's unfortunate that some are more scrupulous in their loyalty to MAGA than adherence to the 9th commandment.
@dailywireplus Looks very cool. Went back and re-read the books (been like 25 years since I last looked at them) and can see the appeal for today. Good choice starting with Merlin though -- Taliesin does not hold up like the others do.
@megbasham This point would be way more valid if the car had actually stopped after the driver had been shot. Shooting the driver does not stop a vehicle (in fact, it often temporarily accelerates it.)
@MattWalshBlog Is was Robert E Lee less American than Fredrick Douglas? Why yes, I believe he was. How about the Unibomber? American by citizenship, sure. But outside of the boundaries of solidarity that define a people? Also yes. To be an American doesn't have a single meaning.
@EdWhelanEPPC My understanding is that when they take up a case their's about a 75% chance they reverse the lower court. So in this case shifting the basis for the illegality of the EO from constitutional to statutory?
@MikeCosper So, according to @DavidAFrench, it's not the responsibility of individual soldiers to assess the legality of their orders, but orders are presumed to be legal. Now, those who give the orders are liable for prosecution of it turns out that those orders aren't.
@whignewtons Not true. If your contract/job description includes "sick days" as a benefit of employment, and you follow the procedure for taking a sick say, "I'm sorry, we have to re-schedule this meeting today. I'm sick," is a perfectly reasonable and professional statement.
