@pm_mcd This is why I left Amber after a month (yes I have batteries). The spikes often hit when there has been no "cheap" power to charge from overnight.
IOEnergy is a much better play for me, charge during the day from solar or 8c and use it over night.
I saw it in NSW last year quite a few times last year, and it spilled over to other states. Was something like $75 per kWh.
Was why I left Amber - though "most" of the time you are saving, if it hits these prices in the morning with a flat battery you start living like a cave man turning everything off.
@linzcom@RepulicBanana Yeah I didn't mean to come off sounding like it was the solution... I have heard stories that sound like its questionable as to its value...
@RepulicBanana@linzcom I have been lucky enough to not need it yet... but I have heard the same from others.
The only reason I have it is because otherwise I am paying the medicare surcharge.
@RepulicBanana@linzcom This is the sort of thing is what private health insurance is about.
There is no way Medicare can cover everything without collecting a huge amount more tax - of which we are already near highest in the world.
@QBCCIntegrity 100% - if they have enough money to throw "donations" at political parties, they don't need a grant.
This is just 'pay to play' bribery from both sides.
@PaulineHansonOz Another fairer policy, would be to have child support taxable for the recipient rather than the payer.
The income effectively goes straight to the recipient as income, why does it get taxed at the payers rate?
@DTealy1@PaulineHansonOz Why, it automatically levels out to be less of an advantage for higher income earners (as usual).
Rough (Grok) calculations below:
@ausstockchick Amazing how many replies are totally missing the point.
It's not about existing rentals, it's about investors who were buying existing properties for investment leaving the market.
@SteveWoosnam@ausstockchick Yes, nothing has changed for them, but it has if you were to consider buying an existing property as an investment.
Thus, you're about to see the heat come out of the real estate market for the foreseeable future.
@MarkSchl6257@ryankatzrosene And you would know completely wrong.
It regularly exceeds 100°F in the USA - are you suggesting that is 68°C?
It would be 37°C.
