Ahmedabad’s streets will put all Indian cities to shame. Continuous tree cover, accessible footpaths with curb ramps, signalised pedestrian crossings every 200–300m, bus boarding islands that keep traffic moving & buses that actually dock flush with the curb. Urban design ✅✅✅
After the change of government in Delhi and the initial excitement about the news, an impression was created in a section of the media that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was incompetent, a poseur and a dunderhead. Looks like it was a sinister campaign against her to discredit the new dispensation, perhaps by the AAP that lost the election. Besides cleaning the Yamuna part by part, the attached video demonstrates but a sample of what the BJP administration has been doing in the city without creating any buzz in the news cycle.
Came across this video that brings to light— Who was Neville Dsouza ?
The first Asian footballer to score a hat-trick at the Olympic Games during the 1956 Melbourne Olympics.
Over the last two months Bandra’s Neville D’Souza Football Ground has become the centre of a growing controversy after the BMC initiated the process to change the land reservation of the site from a “sports ground and playground” to an “exhibition and convention centre.”
Parked my car at Colaba (in the lane next to Cafe Mondegar). A bunch of guys with pay and park placards promptly came and said the parking charges are Rs. 150/- per hour. I asked them to show the rate card and their IDs and they didn’t have any of these to show. Later when I came back after 2 hours, they said just pay us Rs. 100/- in total for 2 hours. I asked them why so much variation between the rates? They said they have to pay more monthly charges (to whom is anyone’s guess).
No ID cards, no official rate cards. Just parking ticket machines. Pls look into this @MumbaiPolice@MTPHereToHelp@mybmc@RoadsOfMumbai
Ekta Nagar: Taking a short holiday in this planned eco-tourism town to see the Statue of Unity.
Nicely built railway station that opened in 2021.
As a nationalist - a great feeling to see well-built infrastructure.
Let that sink in.
Mumbai has received more rain in the last 7 days than Delhi usually gets in an entire year.
That’s how intense this monsoon has been.
#MumbaiRains
It is so refreshing to hear a top IAS officer acknowledge failures in administration.
Introspection is the surest indicator of a skilled operator. Acknowledge, Fix, Next.
Unfortunately India is saddled with too many bureaucrats who only blame the environment/monsoon/system.
“We had good preparation for monsoon but we failed at micro level.
We will start our fresh preparation from January of next year.”
- BMC Commissioner Ashwini Bhide
Traffic is resumed at the “Connecting Link” ; vehicular movement is restored.
Government is trying its best.
Stay safe everyone !

Tunnel collapse? Seriously? When did that happen? Or is this how you deliberately label a landslide to create panic and push a false narrative?
Lonavala and the surrounding region received a record-breaking 670 mm of rainfall in just 24 hours. It was an unprecedented cloudburst that triggered landslides, flash floods and widespread waterlogging.
The debris on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway's Missing Link was promptly cleared, and the road has already been re-opened for vehicular traffic.
Calling a landslide a “tunnel collapse” is not journalism. It's misinformation. Shame!
Thread: Most of the blame for the rain situation in Mumbai falls on the administrators. Some residual complaints point to builders, road contractors, and civil engineers. But there's another culprit that doesn't get enough attention: the media. (1/4)
Amidst the gloom and doom - don't let two fundamental upgrades be ignored in Mumbai. And @mybmc deserves credit for it.
1) Water-Logging cases down
2) Potholed roads down
There’s no structural damage, no slab collapsed. The tunnel and bridge both are intact.
The entrance beam collapsed due to landslide and massive stones fell over it.
~ PWD Minister @Shivendraraje11
Opposition is spreading a fake propaganda without even verifying the facts.
When the tunnel will open and people will start travelling, the truth will come out.
I know the environmentalists are raging over the collapsing trees in Mumbai. And most are well-meaning people. BUT please know this: Trees have collapsed at neighbourhoods where road concretisations has not even happened. So let’s not jump at one target to blame for it.
No other city in the world would be able to function after receiving the kind of rainfall Mumbai has recieved over the last few days. The fact that offices are open, stock market running, airport operating and people still making it to meetings etc is a true testament to the incredible spirit of our great city. Salute to Mumbai and to all those who love and live in our great city.
Ethanol will hurt the BJP electorally, not because of car owners, the are just 8% of the population, but because of bike owners, who make up 60%.
Every issue with a bike, irrespective of whether it's due to ethanol or not, is being blamed on ethanol. Remember that the overwhelming majority of car and bike mechanics are not your voters and, in fact, they hate you and you know why. They are actively telling anyone with any bike issue that it is due to ethanol. Not only does it serve a political purpose, but it is also easy and convincing.
Car and bike dealers are equally happy to lean into this excuse because it completely deflects blame away from the manufacturers and their own service centers. If a part fails prematurely or a vehicle suffers from a chronic engineering defect, blaming ethanol allows dealers to shift the responsibility onto government policy rather than admitting to poor build quality or honoring warranty claims. It gives them a convenient, politically charged scapegoat that customers readily accept, shielding the automotive brands from reputational damage.
It's up to the BJP to smell the coffee. The issue is no longer on Twitter and no longer raised just by English-speaking metro car owners. It has gone to the ground. There is still time to wake up and make corrections.
P.S. I'm not defending ethanol here. It does damage engines and parts. I've been strongly opposing it and will keep doing so. I'm only saying what's happening on the ground. The BJP should do a course correction on ethanol solely because its implementation was wrong and correcting it is only logical. However, since politicians see every controversy from the standpoint of electoral gains and losses, I'm telling them that it will hurt them electorally too.
Insane scenes in Bombay right now. Places like Shivaji Park, Dadar Parsi Colony, Prabhadevi, Matunga, etc. look like an absolute war zone. The amount of broken branches and trees on the road is far higher than I’ve ever seen before and I’ve seen the cyclone of 2020 too. Very Bad.
This is what Mumbai looks like after 96 hours of non-stop torrential rain.
My city has received 600 mm of rainfall this week, with another 400 mm likely over the next 48 hours.
That’s about 40% of its average seasonal rainfall in just one week. Most cities would come to a standstill under these conditions.
