Intelligent people live a quiet disciplined life. They go to bed at the same time. Wake up early. Eat simple. Go for long walks. Read rare books. Say no to things without feeling guilty. The world chases excitement. Not them. They chase calm. A calm routine. A quiet mind. A healthy body. Meaningful work. A small circle. A private life. Things that align with their soul, not a "trend". From the outside their life may look boring. But from the inside, they experience a kind of freedom most people spend their entire lives searching for.
If you only let yourself feel good when you cross the finish line, you make the entire journey feel like torture. Train your brain to feel satisfied with the daily effort, the boring reps, and showing up when you didn't feel like it. Teach your mind to respect the work, not just the trophy.
the older you get, the more you realize luck is mostly exposure, if you sit in the same place, have the same routine, talk to the same person, nothing new really happens, you have to engage the world to win, travel more. talk to people.
Be unreasonably confident in yourself. Bet on yourself even when you have nothing to show for it. Believe that you'll figure it out, even when you have no idea how. Because the moment you start doubting yourself, you start looking for reasons to give up. You don't need everyone to believe in you. You don't need proof that you're going to make it. You just need to keep showing up, keep learning, and keep moving until the life you once imagined becomes your reality.
Want to change your life? Master one thing: Shame. Stop fearing judgment, looking stupid, or failing in public. People will talk, judge and, criticize you. Then they’ll move on. Stop living for their approval. Do what you need to do. Take the risk and build the life you want.
You need to be stubbornly single-focused. If you are reading something, just read. If you are chatting with someone, just chat. Even when you are playing a video game, only do that. People think they are good at context switching, but you are frying your brain by not going deep into any given activity.
The need to show off material assets comes from a place of insecurity. When your brain believes your status is low in your social circle, it starts collecting material proof in a desperate attempt to change that. Don’t go looking for more things to make yourself look like someone with status; fix your deeper insecurities to become someone who doesn’t need any proof.
I regret to inform you that nobody cares about your potential. Potential is nothing without execution. When you're young, everyone cares about your potential. You get used to focusing on it. But as you get older, no one cares about your potential. Just your delivery against it.
Your brain cannot do three things at once. Switching back and forth between your work, your texts, and your open tabs leaves your mind half-interested in everything. Pick one single target. Give it your full attention. A focused mind is dangerous, whereas a scattered mind gets nothing done.
I still think about this quote from Carl Jung.
"The world is full of people suffering from the effects of their own unlived life. They become bitter, critical, or rigid, not because the world is cruel to them, but because they have betrayed their own inner possibilities. The artist who never makes art becomes cynical about those who do. The lover who never risks loving mocks romance. The thinker who never commits to a philosophy sneers at belief itself. And yet, all of them suffer, because deep down they know: the life they mock is the life they were meant to live."
some of the best advice I’ve ever heard:
optimize your tolerance for uncertainty because everything good you want in life comes from overcoming fear, tolerating boredom, and becoming comfortable with discomfort.
Intelligent people hate pretending. Forced connections. Fake energy. Surface-level conversations. Pretending to be interested in things they don't care about. Performing a personality just to fit in. That shit drains them. They'd rather be alone than "pretend" to be someone they're not.
Life is fleeting.
If you know someone going through depression or a hard rejection, reach out. Not with advice. Just call, sit with them, and make sure they feel heard.
Most people who are struggling go quiet. You will not know unless you ask.
Everything else will pass. Even the darkest night has a morning.
Reach out today.
Love you all.
