@JScottWildlife @JenniferLaChap6 @RevRichardColes You’ll have to create a book proposal and find a publisher if it’s nonfiction or an agent if it’s fiction. Plan it out, showing how your book fits, and extends, the existing market for its subject. Every publisher has their own requirements for a proposal, and mostly don’t reply.
Nikola Tesla's prediction of a smartphone, Collier’s magazine interview, 1926:
"When wireless is perfectly applied the whole earth will be converted into a huge brain, which in fact it is, all things being particles of a real and rhythmic whole. We shall be able to communicate with one another instantly, irrespective of distance. Not only this, but through television and telephony we shall see and hear one another as perfectly as though we were face to face, despite intervening distances of thousands of miles; and the instruments through which we shall be able to do his will be amazingly simple compared with our present telephone. A man will be able to carry one in his vest pocket."
@Ananyo@JTweedie Still difficult to use a laptop to note maths in schools though. It needs an expensive tablet to take maths notes, which some have in universities. I think fine motor control in handwriting is an essential acquisition.
Carry On actor Peter Butterworth (#DOD 1979) was POW in Stalag Luft III who vaulted the wooden horse while escape tunnel was being dug beneath it. After war he went for a part in the movie of the famous escape (3 home runs) and was told he didn’t look athletic or heroic enough.
In 1958, The New Yorker published a two-part Profile of Leonard Bernstein, the composer who transformed the American musical into a form of high art and is now the subject of the bio-pic “Maestro.” Revisit an early account of his love affair with music: https://t.co/AIvemGXhAz
@seventiesuk There is an interesting part of the website of the National Archives that converts currency from years back to 1270 into the value of money in 2017. Fish and chips at 21p equates to £1.60
@skyatnightmag NASA has two huge warehouses filled with the administration required to arrange the lunar missions. To have faked so much paperwork is an extremely odd idea, and very unlikely.
@NobelPrize The idea was taken up by AEG but it was too noisy. It involved moving mercury using magnetism. Much later, the same method, but using sodium, was used in nuclear reactors as a coolant
@archivetvmus71 I expect colorising the original seven entire is too expensive. If it has appeal to a different generation it’s worth the experiment, I’d say.
