African-American people are constantly being compared to dogs. First in #TMOT5 wth the dog in the negro train car, then in #TMOT32 wth the slaves referred 2 as pet dogs to their slaveholders, & now in #TMOT32 again wth white people shooting black people during the riot. Not cool

Doctor Miller points out that during the riot, slaveholders wouldn’t protect their slaves ‘cause it was ethically right to do so, but, instead, they protected slaves since the slaves were their property & were a contributing factor to keeping a slaveholder an aristocrat. #TMOT32

It is interesting how in earlier sections of the book, Sandy was only called by his first name. However, after the crime, in #TMOT21 Sandy was referred to as ‘Sandy Campbell’ or simply ‘Campbell’. I‘m not entirely sure why this would occur, but it really strikes my curiosity🤔

In #TMOT24 Mr. Delamere keeps saying that Sandy would never commit any crime .. NOR HIS GRANDSON. But boiiii he gets so sHoOk when he finds out it was Tom all along. He literally dies very shortly after💀💀

I believe that Ellis provides comic relief in #TMOT28 since after all this death & a lynching scare, Ellis is still trying to think of ways to woo Clara. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s a lil’ creepy, but it takes the reader’s mind off all the horrible stuff that has happened.

@LitseySkole Today we have an abundance of media that supplies many perspectives on situations. In the book, the only media they seemed to have was the Morning Chroncile & the newspaper by the blacks. Press definitely influences ppl so much as to lead whites to almost lynching Sandy #TMOT27
