On 24 September 2026* , a joint delegation of the National Organisation of Bank Workers ( *NOBW* ) and the National Organisation of Bank Officers ( *NOBO* ), led by Shri *Girish Arya Ji* , Financial Sector In-charge of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh ( *BMS* ), held a meeting with the *Secretary* , Department of Financial Services ( *DFS* ).

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on various important issues concerning the banking sector and bank employees.

A legitimate question needs to be asked.

When an official bank’s social-media handle repeatedly shares messaging that appears to support the Government/DFS position on an ongoing employees’ demand, shouldn’t an official institutional platform maintain a degree of neutrality and fairness?

@TheOfficialSBI — This isn’t about questioning the Bank’s right to communicate its position.

It’s about ensuring that official communication doesn’t create the impression that the Bank is taking sides against its own employees.

If the intention is only to communicate the Government/DFS position, why not clearly distinguish it from the Bank’s own institutional position?

Employees have the right to raise genuine concerns and participate in lawful collective action. Their voice deserves to be heard with the same seriousness with which official positions are communicated.

Communicate, yes.
But also preserve neutrality.
Preserve fairness.
Respect the workforce.

In our considered opinion neither RBI nor Bank management has power to open branches for general banking transactions on Sunday which is a public holiday under NI ACT.
That power rests with the central government and governors through gazette notification which has not been done yet .

Sathiyo, UFBU ne IBA ke us order (dated 23.09.2026) ka sakht virodh kiya hai jisme IBA ne apni marzi se strike exemptions ka daayra badha diya hai.
📌 *Kya Hai Pura Mamla?*
IBA ne bina kisi union se baat kiye, 17 naye departments (jaise Call Centres, Pension Cells, Back Offices, etc.) ko "Sensitive Installations" bata kar unhe strike se bahar rakhne ki koshish ki hai. Jabki Bipartite Settlement ke hisaab se sirf 24x7 IT Hubs/Disaster Recovery wale staff hi exempt hote hain.
⚠️ *UFBU ka Stand*:
UFBU ne IBA ko saaf chetawani di hai ki "Bilateral agreement ko unilaterally change nahi kiya ja sakta." Agar IBA is order ko turant wapas nahi leti, toh aane wali strike me purane exemptions bhi cancel kar diye jayenge aur kadi karwayi (industrial action) ki jayegi.

It is humbly submitted that the sanctity of a 5-day strike, which very thoughtfully includes Saturday and Sunday, will be lost if we graciously open the branches on the weekend.

If we happily attend offices on holidays, we ourselves will defeat the purpose of our own strike. That would be most kind of us.

It may also be kindly conveyed to the Government that there is absolutely no need to worry. During this period, Banks are not closed. Only officers upto Scale-III are on strike - the same category of officers who, as per the Government's own assessment, are not efficient enough to deserve PLI.

Therefore, logically, there should be no impact on banking services at all. In fact, this is a golden opportunity to prove the point.

The highly efficient senior officers, who are not participating in the strike and are fully deserving of PLI, may kindly run the banks smoothly for these 5 days and showcase the real efficiency.
We are confident that customers will not face any inconvenience.
However, if we have to come to the office on sunday then we are only loosing our salary for the strike period without making it a success.

रविवार को शाखाएँ खुलवाकर हमारी हड़ताल का असर कम दिखाने की कोशिश हो सकती है। लेकिन याद रखिए, शाखा का ताला खुलने से हमारी माँग ख़त्म नहीं होती। असली सवाल यह है कि हम कितने एकजुट हैं। जब हम सब एक साथ खड़े होते हैं, तो कोई आदेश हमारी आवाज़ को दबा नहीं सकता।
हम सबसे यही अपील करते हैं:
अफ़वाहों और दबाव में न आएँ। यूनियन के आधिकारिक निर्देश ही मानें।
अपने साथी को अकेला न छोड़ें। जो डगमगाए, उसे समझाएँ और साथ रखें।
शांतिपूर्ण और अनुशासित रहें। हमारी ताक़त हमारा संयम और हमारा तर्क है।
ग्राहकों से विनम्रता से बात करें। उन्हें बताएँ कि यह लड़ाई सिर्फ़ हमारी नहीं, बेहतर और टिकाऊ बैंकिंग व्यवस्था की है।
बड़े बदलाव कभी आसानी से नहीं मिले। हर अधिकार के पीछे किसी न किसी की एकजुटता, धैर्य और हिम्मत रही है। आज वही ज़िम्मेदारी हमारे कंधों पर है।
हम एक हैं, हम मज़बूत हैं, और हम अपनी बात मनवाकर रहेंगे।
