@tayyabkjanjua06@elonmusk They'll report out semi-annually, and there aren't going to be dividends – they'll have plenty of places to reinvest the capital instead. At least not anytime soon. Just look at TSLA. No buybacks and no dividends.
Optimism is not the belief that everything will be fine, but the belief that problems are SOLVABLE, combined with the willingness to actually go solve them. That thesis has built every good thing we have.
@themolkster@FrankW4809@ZacksJerryRig@Tesla@elonmusk As someone who has actually used both, extensively, I can say that you have no clue what you're talking about 😂
Waymo's great, but it's far from the only solution with a future. And it might not even be profitable/scalable...at least in its current form.
@mintotsai@wholemars@aelluswamy Except it’s not at all, for the first city anyway. It’ll get super inexpensive further into the ramp. Gotta get it right, and that means tens of thousands of hours of testing and data collection/processing.
I’m hiring exceptional software engineers for my team at @SpaceX.
We are a small team based in Redmond, WA (onsite) that owns key parts of the @Starlink user experience: https://t.co/HkjqT1Kf1w, the mobile app, customer support, AI integrations. No PMs. No designers. You ship from day one to millions of customers.
If this sounds interesting, DM me something impressive you’ve built.
I thought Tesla Full Self-Driving would make my commute easier.
I did not expect it to expose me as the problem.
Turns out I was not “driving defensively.”
I was conducting a one-man municipal audit of every idiot within 300 yards.
Someone going 40 in a 25?
I had notes.
Someone taking too long at a green light?
I had a full theory of civilizational decline.
Now the car drives and I just sit there like a reformed man.
No high blood pressure.
No death grip on the wheel.
No courtroom monologue about lane discipline.
My wife noticed immediately.
She said, “You’re way more chill in the car, I like this!”
That is when I realized Tesla didn’t just make the car drive itself.
It made me stop narrating the collapse of society from the driver’s seat.
@culturaltutor Perhaps AI will allow for more of this, directly but more so as people no longer have/need a host of jobs and can turn to art and beautification of public and private spaces. Essentially quality over quantity.
That’s 4-5x more expensive per kg and the cadence isn’t enough to establish critical mass for the constellation. Not to mention they aren’t making Atlas any more and Vulcan is delayed too. It’s kind of a stop gap to get things started but they’ll need New Glenn or SpaceX to get the initial 3,000 sat constellation up and running.
Kinda crazy to think at some point, US Armed Forces are probably going to operate special versions of Starship specifically for these drops. Like they own/operate their own aircraft. But rockets delivering payloads anywhere in the world in an hour...that sort of capability is wild.
