Product manager. Speaker and writer. Saint Paul Planning Commissioner. SHA ZLU Chair. He/him. I tweet about #Politics, #Law, #Tech, #Design, and sometimes food.
@scottbelsky Once the novelty wears off, generative AI on its own won't be enough. AI features will have to be justified just like any other technology choice. Extensibility will be key: can I build unique customer value on top of a given AI solution or not?
What does it mean to be a successful PM?
From ruthless prioritization to making decisions, great PMs are like swiss army knives.
10 characteristics of highly effective PMs I know:
@natehoodstp Well you see, housing is a human right, and landlords and developers making a profit from it is evil, so new housing should just sort of magically come into existe... oh wait 🤦
@FacilitatorSher@ianrbuck@pedalingprof @DanMarStP @melissawenzelMN Identifying with this tweet. I just tried to cycle along Summit to pick up some bread. My ears are almost frozen off.
Update: multiple families with babies on the plane begging passengers to swap seats with them so they can sit together.
This is exactly the type of anti-family experience @SunCountryAir has designed.
@staghioff Hi Simon- We are sorry to hear this. This is not the type of experience we want our passengers to have. Please fill out our Customer Care form here: https://t.co/4zibMSa0VF, and tell us more about this experience so we can look into this further.
@SunCountryAir I'll fill out your form @SunCountryAir. However, if you genuinely want to make this right, you can talk to your operations people for SY 216 out of AVL before it takes off in an hour.

@SunCountryAir Families with infants on the same reservation want to sit together. If you won't let mothers check in and pay for their seat assignments before the flight, please help at the airport.
@emptywheel Note - the "other high profile investigations" point is because of the potentially chilling effect of e.g. revealing identities of witnesses that supported the affidavit, not because the subpoena was a fishing expedition, as falsely claimed.
@the_transit_guy Despite the pictures, a lot of the written explanations for the diagrams seem to be less about being anti-grid and more about things like fitting streets to topography, avoiding a bunch of dead-ends, or connecting to major thoroughfares at right angles.
Simon Taghioff, founder of Fair Streets Saint Paul, says a single stretch of road has no value. It's value is in being connected to every stretch of road, used by everyone else. Why am I as a homeowner assessed a special roadwork fee for the road you use?
Better together. International collaboration gave us the most powerful space telescope ever made, and the deepest infrared views of the universe ever seen. With our partners at @ESA and @CSA_ASC, the science can begin. Together we #UnfoldTheUniverse: https://t.co/oFA1ja4jeP
PMs are expected to write product strategies.
And, yet, 99% don’t even understand Porter’s 5 Forces of strategy.
The concept is considered “revolutionary” in the field of strategy.
I spent $200K on a Wharton MBA and read Porter’s 397 page book so you don’t have to:
