Amid Growing #Heroin Allegations, Tinubu Runs to His Friends in #Europe

A long-held view across #Africa, the Middle East, and South America is that Western powers install or protect puppet leaders to control countries and their resources. Many Nigerians now believe President Bola Tinubu (@OfficialABAT) is such a #puppet and that the hidden records concerning alleged heroin trafficking are the strings.

We may never know whether President Bola #Tinubu has ever traded Nigerian secrets or resources in exchange for protection, but many Nigerians see the past @JoeBiden DOJ’s efforts to keep these records hidden as further proof that Western powers are protecting President Tinubu. Whether that belief is right or wrong, the secrecy is feeding it.

The longer the records remain hidden, the stronger the belief becomes that foreign powers have something they can hold over #Nigeria’s president. This mistrust will remain regardless of the outcome of the @FBI and @DEAHQ FOIA case. This is why Western powers must ensure that Nigeria’s upcoming presidential election is #free and #fair. Anything else heightens the risk of Nigeria going the way of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger.

Update: Last night, the @FBI and @DEAHQ presented the court with new filings concerning the alleged heroin-trafficking records involving President Bola Tinubu (@officialABAT). What is shocking is that we learned the FBI’s Tinubu-responsive search produced 399 pages of documents related to #Nigerian President Bola #Tinubu.

Within those records are materials tied to a drug-trafficking investigation involving #heroin-residue laboratory testing, controlled drug purchases by a cooperating witness, confidential informants, federal grand-jury activity, prosecutorial reports and meetings, surveillance, undercover operations, financial seizures, bank-account seizure warrants, IRS criminal-investigation material, and international investigative coordination.

President Bola #Tinubu's lies are falling apart; this case was never about a civil forfeiture case. The long speculation about whether serious law-enforcement records concerning President Tinubu exist is over. They do exist. The question now is simple: What is contained in those 399 pages that President Tinubu does not want the American and Nigerian people to see?

It could have been me. He stood there and was shot instead.

That pain, anger and trauma was what carried a lot of us into the fight to speak up for others, for a better Nigeria. We channeled our anger into the 2023 elections, ensuring to use our voices for the candidate we believe could have given us that Nigeria of our dream.
Sometimes I truly wish things happened differently.

Because for this sacrifice, pain and memory, nobody should be throwing everything in the wind.
If this is how everyone truly is, then I’m sorry, because nobody deserved that sacrifice.

Breaking News: Things are moving much faster than under the @TheJusticeDept (DOJ) under President @JoeBiden. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro (@USAttyPirro) again asked Judge Beryl Howell yesterday for more time. This is not simply an effort to stonewall. The government says it is dealing with very sensitive information. In our opinion, we believe this may mean that President Tinubu was caught and made a deal with the U.S. government, which would explain why funds were seized from his accounts but he was not criminally prosecuted.

Per U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro’s new emergency request, the @FBI, @DEAHQ, and U.S. Attorney’s Office are still working internally to prepare their explanation for Judge Howell, and some of what they want to tell the judge is so sensitive that they are asking to share it with her privately. The government says two declarations require what is called “ex parte in camera review”. This means they want Judge Howell to review them privately. The government says it needs additional time to complete its work and has now asked the court to move its deadline from August 21 to August 28.

This is a major development in the fight to uncover the DOJ, FBI, and DEA records concerning drug-trafficking allegations involving Nigerian President Bola #Tinubu (@officialABAT). After more than three years, the American and Nigerian people deserve to know what is in these files. We appreciate the work being done by U.S. Attorney #Pirro, the FBI, DEA, and @TheJusticeDept under President @realDonaldTrump.

In our opinion, what we will continue to tell the @realDonaldTrump Administration and Congress is this: deal or no deal, for the integrity of the United States and President Trump, especially after Venezuela, release the documents. The United States and the #Republican Party do not need another Epstein scandal.

We just received a copy of President Bola Tinubu’s (@officialABAT) filing from just two business days ago. Not surprisingly, President Tinubu has now formally joined @TheJusticeDept’s request for a 10-day extension, which the judge has now swiftly denied.

We surmise that President #Tinubu wants to use any delay to call upon his friends in DC to argue that the release of these files would harm U.S.-Nigeria relations and undermine his ability to work with the United States to combat terrorism and the killing of Christians in Northern Nigeria.

We believe that any U.S. government personnel who improperly attempt to interfere with the judicial or FOIA process on behalf of #Nigerian President #Tinubu to prevent the lawful release of these records should be exposed and fired.

President @realDonaldTrump and the United States do not protect individuals alleged by the DOJ to have been part of a criminal organization that smuggled heroin into the United States.

Osun: When the People Stand, Democracy Wins

I warmly congratulate Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election and the good people of Osun State on this important democratic victory. They - Osun people - have spoken with courage and clarity, reaffirming that the power to choose their leaders belongs to the people. Through his commitment to the people, compassion for their needs, and the strength of his work and achievements in office, Governor @AAdeleke_01 has earned their renewed confidence and been entrusted once again with their mandate.

I particularly commend the courageous youths of Osun who rose to the occasion and peacefully defended their democratic mandate. Their vigilance and determination demonstrate that when citizens stand firmly to protect their votes, the forces of good can overcome the forces of darkness.

The lesson from Osun is clear: democracy is strongest when citizens are alert, conscious of their civic responsibility, and determined to ensure that their votes count. Every genuine vote must be respected, and every lawful mandate must be protected.

This is also a clarion call as we approach 2027. Nigerians must remain informed, participate actively, vote, and protect their votes. The Nigerian people are the ones experiencing hunger, deprivation, insecurity, and hardship; therefore, they are also the ones with the power, through their votes, to bring about the change that will end these conditions.

I urge all political actors to place the interests of the people above partisan considerations and to embrace peace, unity, and the rule of law. Elections should never be battles of violence, but contests of ideas, competence, character, and service.

May the Osun experience strengthen our confidence in the democratic process and inspire Nigerians everywhere to remain vigilant and committed to building a just, secure, prosperous, and truly people-centred nation.

Depressing visit to helpless citizens of a country of plenty.

Yesterday, after the funeral mass of Most Rev Obiora Akubeze in Benin City, I travelled to Enugu to meet nearly 1,000 kidney patients. It was one of the most disheartening visits I have had.

I encountered people facing the most difficult moments of their lives, helplessly, in a country of abundance, among them children.

Nigeria has over 25 million people with kidney disease. We have fewer than 200 kidney centres and barely 500 functioning dialysis machines, when we ideally need about 5,000 functioning dialysis machines. This is completely unacceptable.

I must commend the organiser of the charity project, Emmanuel Onyeka Okoh (Okwuluora), for his selfless humanitarian service to Nigerians who cannot help themselves. I assured him of my ongoing support, starting today with my initial donation to his work with the kidney patients.

The Federal Government, and Government at all levels must take the lead in actively investing in health to guarantee a healthier population for all.

Sheikh Yahaya Jangir.

He said Muslims should show political “dominance” over Christians.

Called Christians “infidels.”

This is why Christians are so persecuted in northern Nigeria.

It isn’t just terrorists. It’s prominent religious and political leadership.

Sheikh Jangir is based in Jos, Plateau State.

Perhaps the epicenter of persecution of Christians in Nigeria.

I am deeply concerned by the comments made by Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir at an event in Kano this weekend.

At this critical moment in our nation’s history, statements that promote division and disunity must be firmly discouraged. It is particularly troubling to hear such rhetoric from a religious leader of Sheikh Jingir’s stature and influence.

Let it be clearly stated: the good people of Kano do not endorse or support these divisive remarks.

Following discussions with members of the @realDonaldTrump Administration, Congress, and senior congressional staff, we began providing more than 60 pages of @TheJusticeDept documents concerning the DOJ's allegations of Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's (@officialABAT) alleged involvement in a heroin trafficking investigation spanning the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Many within the U.S. government were previously unaware of the DOJ's allegations concerning Bola #Tinubu. We are changing that. Drug trafficking has devastated communities across America, claiming thousands of lives and leaving countless families forever changed.

Today, we are making public only the attached chronology summarizing the DOJ's allegations. We fully intend to ensure that the complete collection of DOJ court filings, the supporting affidavit, and the related federal court decisions are brought to President #Trump's attention as soon as possible.

RE: INVITATION OF PETER FOR NIGERIA AND MAMA PEE BY THE EFCC

There is growing agitation in the public space on the whereabouts and safety of our clients and good governance activists, Mr @Peter4Nigeria and Miss Precious Oruche, popularly known as Peter for Nigeria and @MamaPee__ respectively.

I can confirm that they were invited by the EFCC to appear on 6th July 2026, to offer clarifications over allegation of abuse of the Naira by separate invitation letters dated 24th June, 2026.

We wrote to the Commission to reschedule the meeting to Wednesday, 15th July, 2026 since our clients were not available on the originally scheduled date.

We arrived the Commission with Peter for Nigeria and Mama Pee on Wednesday and met with the investigators.

After cooperating with the Commission, our clients were released and we departed the EFCC’s Headquarters. We will be going today in furtherance of the investigation.

During the interrogation on Wednesday, which took considerable time, the Commission acted professionally.

Our clients clarified that what was referenced were Props money for entertainment and not Naira notes.

Our clients are in high spirits and they appreciate the concerns expressed by spirited Nigerians regarding their safety.

We will provide more information about this matter in due course.

Nigeria in Focus at the ECFR Berlin Roundtable.

Yesterday, at the invitation of the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR), I had the honour of participating in a high-level roundtable discussion titled “Nigeria in 2027 and Beyond,” held at the ECFR office in Berlin, Germany.
The dialogue brought together policymakers, diplomats, development experts, business leaders, representatives of international organisations, and members of the international media to discuss Nigeria’s future and its role in an increasingly interconnected global landscape.

Our discussions centred on Nigeria’s democratic journey beyond 2027, international affairs, development cooperation, and the need to strengthen bilateral partnerships that can accelerate economic growth and improve the lives of our people. A key focus of the engagement was how Nigeria can deepen collaboration with international partners to support Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), recognising that they remain the backbone of every productive economy and are indispensable to job creation, innovation, wealth creation, and sustainable national development.

We also exchanged views on strengthening democratic institutions, expanding trade and investment opportunities, promoting regional stability, improving governance, and creating an enabling environment that inspires confidence among citizens, investors, and Nigeria’s international partners.

I was encouraged by the thoughtful contributions and genuine interest demonstrated by participants in Nigeria’s future. The presence of senior representatives from the German Federal Government, development agencies, business associations, policy institutes, foundations, international organisations, and respected global media organisations underscores the strategic importance of Nigeria and the shared desire to see our nation realise its enormous potential.

During the discussions, I reiterated my unwavering belief that Nigeria possesses all the human and natural resources required to become a prosperous, secure, and globally competitive nation. What is required is competent, accountable, and compassionate leadership that prioritises investment in people, education, healthcare, productive enterprise, the rule of law, and strong institutions over politics of consumption.

Nigeria’s future is bright, but only if we make the deliberate choices that will move our country from consumption to production, from poverty to prosperity, and from division to unity. By embracing good governance, fiscal responsibility, and productive partnerships with the international community, we can build an economy that works for all Nigerians and restores our nation’s standing among the comity of nations.

I sincerely thank the European Council on Foreign Relations for the invitation and all participants for a frank, engaging, and constructive exchange of ideas. I just learned that under Ghana’s Free Senior High School policy, the government pays the WASSCE registration fees for every student in public schools.

Then I looked at Nigeria, where WAEC and NECO fees have just increased.

I’m struggling to understand the logic.

Nigeria has one of the largest populations of out-of-school children in the world.

Thousands of children drop out every year because their families simply cannot keep up with the cost of education.

Education is under attack in Nigeria and we have to fight back.
