Sept. 30, 1919: Elaine Massacre: black men, women, and children massacred because black farmers tried to form a union to end the economic injustices of sharecropping.
Jalen Hurts, the Philadelphia Eagles star quarterback, is out for the rest of the season after doctors discovered a blood clot in his leg and clots in both his lungs. The former Super Bowl MVP is expected to make a full recovery. @RhiannonAlly has details. https://t.co/zkfG3s8mLq
Jalen Hurts remains one of the most disrespected players in the NFL despite turning a struggling team into a Super Bowl contender. It is time to stop questioning his impact and see how the team truly performs when he is off the field. #NFL#JalenHurts
GET WELL SOON JALEN! 🦅🏈🐘
Former Alabama QB Jalen Hurts’ will be out for the season after medical testing has revealed that the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback has “deep vein thrombosis” in his injured calf as well as “bilateral pulmonary emboli,” his agent Nicole Lynn said in a statement.
The latter is blood clotting in both lungs, a serious condition that can lead to death if not treated.
Lynn said Hurts is recovering, however. “He is clinically stable and has no significant functional limitations,” Lynn wrote in a statement.
“His treatment should only involve anticoagulation (i.e., ‘blood thinners’). During this time, he will not be allowed to participate in any contact activities, including football. “Jalen’s progress is very good, and we expect a full recovery. We anticipate that he will have the opportunity to resume contact football activities when off the blood thinners.”
Regardless of what you think of Jalen Hurts, he literally sacrificed his body and life to try to deliver a win for the Philadelphia Eagles.
I've always had so much respect for his drive, heart, competitiveness, how he carries himself and his will to win. I have even more respect for him now.

T.J. Houshmandzadeh and James Jones called out the Philadelphia Eagles for letting Jalen Hurts play with blood clots and depriving him of sleep for 36 hours. This is a perfect example of why NFL players go to private doctors for second opinions, because team doctors are always going to side with the organization and put you out there even if you're not healthy
"The owner, the general manager, and whoever represents the medical staff ... that's the three people that should be [answering questions]."
Marcus Spears reacts to Jalen Hurts' season-ending diagnosis of several blood clots.
"If you're treating [Jalen Hurts] like this, what does that message send to other players in that locker room? What message does it send to potential free agents that want to come there?"

Sending love and prayers to Jalen Hurts.
The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback will miss the remainder of the NFL season after being diagnosed with blood clots in his lungs.
According to a statement released by the Eagles and his agent, Nicole Lynn, Hurts is currently stable and undergoing treatment. Thankfully, doctors expect him to make a full recovery.
Football can wait. Your health comes first, always.
We're wishing you strength, healing, and a speedy recovery, Jalen.
Jalen Hurts has been the target of unfair criticism and baseless narratives, but now is not the time for that. His health is what matters most.
@CharlieBatch16 brought me back to my own health scares, while @OfficialCrowder reminded us of the gravity of this moment.
Jalen has consistently shown the character of a leader. My prayer is that he’s treated with the respect and humanity he deserves.
This is bigger than football. This is about his life.
