5 years ago today, I launched Mission Unemployment-Free Varanasi. It was a constructive #MUVment aimed at making the constituency of the PM, @narendramodi, a laboratory for National Employment Policy.

Before arriving in the city, I wrote to the DM @deo_varanasi seeking government support to create 80,000–100,000 secured, sustainable jobs in the district.

5 years have gone by. Not a single reply.

I can only hope the government didn't feel the need to respond because there is absolutely nobody #unemployed left in the constituency of the Hon'ble Prime Minister @PMOIndia. 🤔🇮🇳

राष्ट्रीय मानवाधिकार आयोग के अध्यक्ष न्यायमूर्ति वी.राम सुब्रह्मण्यम जी की अध्यक्षता में आयोजित इस कार्यक्रम में लोकार्पित पुस्तक The Last Beggar पर चर्चा हुई और उपस्थित महानुभावों ने भिक्षावृत्ति से मुक्ति का संकल्प व्यक्त किया।

भिक्षावृत्ति मुक्त समाज के संवेदनशील प्रधानमंत्री श्री @narendramodi जी के संकल्प का स्मरण करवाते हुए मैंने कहा कि सरकार के माध्यम से लाभवंचित व्यक्तियों की आजीविका,उद्यम के लिए सहायता और उनके पुनर्वास हेतु 'स्माइल' योजना प्रभावी तरीके से क्रियान्वित की जा रही है। लेकिन इसके साथ ही समाज,स्वैच्छिक संस्थाओं और धार्मिक संगठनों का भी यह दायित्व है कि वे भिक्षावृत्ति को हतोत्साहित कर ऐसे लोगों को आत्मनिर्भर बनाने में सहयोग करें। ये अच्छी बात है कि समाज की ओर से अच्छे प्रयासों के सकारात्मक परिणाम मिल रहे हैं ।

इस अवसर पर बेगर्स कॉर्पोरेशन द्वारा भिक्षावृत्ति से मुक्त उन बंधुओं से भी मुलाकात की जिन्हें आजीविका प्रदान की गई है और वो सम्मान एवं स्वाभिमान के साथ जीवनयापन कर रहे हैं।

इस अवसर पर श्री मिश्रा ने भिक्षामुक्ति पर केंद्रित पुस्तक The Last Beggar भी भेंट की। श्री मिश्रा पहले ऐसे व्यक्ति बताए जाते हैं जिन्होंने राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर समाज को भिक्षामुक्त करने का संकल्प लेकर भीख मांगने वाले बंधु भगिनी को उद्यमी बनाने का बड़ा काम किया है।
