@Sime0nStylites I recently read https://t.co/FsttPnwjYX which I found shed an interesting light on interpretations of quantum mechanics. I've never liked the Copenhagen interpretation.
@trefeca@anandMenon1@redhistorian Well yes, I was trying not to extrapolate too far from my personal experience. I came to the conclusion a long time ago, that it was more important for votes to matter than any other consideration. More accurately representing the views of the electorate is a bonus.
@anandMenon1@redhistorian I've a long time dislike of FTFP because wherever I've lived the same party gets in whatever I voted. Labour when growing up, Conservative since leaving uni. It feels like my vote never counts.
@crawshaw_steve@Riggs_martin@MrJohnNicolson@vivamjm The "free" in the TCA means free as in gratis i.e. no tariffs. Our govt didn't understand that the "free" in free trade also means libre, no non tariff barriers. Or as rumoured, Johnson et al didn't understand until it was too late.
@rolandmcs I don't understand what solutions these people think exist to the stated problems. I mean I've read Hannan's famous fan fiction from 2016, but does anyone have any serious proposals?
@Samfr Is this related to the Brexit vote being won, it seems, by a coalition of the not-working? In this summary: https://t.co/W2mjGiyv8U, the groups voting out were the unemployed, retired, "looking after home", and "other".
@sergeantdixie@danielmgmoylan@DavidHenigUK And they aren't going to be unwinding the trade deals completed without parliamentary scrutiny, or the lockdown rules that had no debates.
@sergeantdixie@danielmgmoylan@DavidHenigUK Wrong. There are EU parliament elections. The commission is appointed by elected EU governments because they don't want to hand too much power to the parliament. Meanwhile, this government is stuffing the Lords with lifetime appointments.
@RikeFranke For 60+ it also says:
"if you don't have these, you can still apply online but may be asked to:
- Print a verification letter and take it to a Post Office in London with proof of your age and address
- Pay £20 at a Post Office"
with other proofs of age/address.
@danielmgmoylan@DavidHenigUK Constitutional change to deny parliament any part of government, is that it? No say in trade deals, increasing use of SIs and King Henry VIII powers, executive power grabs in security bills, NI bill, EU retained law bill, etc. It looks like less accountability, not more.
