New knowledge hub for civil society actors in Africa. HakiFedha combines the Kiswahili words for Justice, Rights, Fairness (Haki) and Money/Finance (Fedha). @afribitcoiners@tando_me@wkkaung@HRF
Because Zambians didn't have a reliable exchange on which they could buy bitcoin, Humphrey Simwinga, co-founder of @BitcoinVicFalls, built @BitZed_, which is now a Fedi Mini App.
BitZed enables Zambians to not only buy bitcoin but to make Lightning payments that settle over Zambia's mobile money rails.
Keep your eyes peeled for a full piece on Simwinga and Bitcoin Victoria Falls coming next week 👀
How do we know we can trust the Bitcoin software?
Well, it has been running for 17 years without many hiccups. It is considered a solid piece of software today. But what about the software the developers need to build the Bitcoin software? You will be blown away about the level of sophistication that goes into building Bitcoin software with minimal trust in other tools.
In his inaugural piece (welcome to the SBI Fellowship!), @nadahalli traces how Bitcoin Core has systematically reduced its unaudited trusted code to a size that will surprise you.

Africa enters the chat..
Everyone’s calling this a “Bitcoin playbook.”
It’s not. It’s a power shift and Africa should be paying very close attention.
AI is making production abundant. But Africa’s problem has never been production. It’s been value capture.
We already produce:
→ raw materials
→ data
→ labour
→ creativity
And most of the value leaves the continent.
AI accelerates that dynamic. More output. Faster.
But without a neutral system,
more value extraction. Faster.
That’s where Bitcoin actually matters. Not as an ideology. As infrastructure.
AI without Bitcoin:
→ Africa becomes a data + labour backend
AI + Bitcoin:
→ Africa can store, settle, and retain value
So the real lens isn’t:
“scarcity vs abundance”
It’s who owns what gets created
If we get this wrong, AI scales extraction.
If we get it right, AI + Bitcoin scales sovereignty.
Our @MyFirstBitcoin_ diploma students have officially graduated! 🎓
We celebrated an amazing evening with their parents and friends. Bitcoin education is vital in communities like ours—these students are now equipped to help protect their families from scams.
Big thanks to @BitcoinMoonFund for making this possible 🙌
.@MotivPeru is building real Bitcoin economies on the ground.
They focus on education, local businesses, and community support to help people earn, save, and transact in Bitcoin. Today, they support hundreds of families each week through these circular economies.
This is what adoption looks like when it solves real problems.

Wouldn’t it be wild if someone was invited to orange pill the US Army and the Land Force Commanders across the entire continent of Africa? Might even be worth going out and buying a suit @BitcoinEkasi@BrindonMwiine
Zambia has some top-tier talent fueled by very passionate bitcoiners. Extremely impressed!! So awesome to see the decentralized network thriving in other locales! 🧡🧡
