Bamutakudde cleaning Day:
This week's community cleaning was special in #Bamutakudde.
We didn't just clean — we planted the future🌱. 2,000 trees: 🌸 1,000 cherry blossoms along our village highway. 1,000 fruit trees for homes & gardens 🥭
Grateful to @GoodForestsUg for partnering with us on this greening journey. Together, we are building the village we call home.
Once a student, always family.🏆🎓
Today, the Class of 2014 donated to support school programs and facilities. Their generosity helps current students enjoy the same solid foundation. We thank the Class of 2014 for their kindness and leadership. 🎓.

I do security assessments for different kinds of buildings. And i know right now you're all on the CCTV camera bandwagon but in this country, it is utterly useless. And the ones that you are getting are the wrong ones.
CCTVs only work in cities, countries, where there's an established network of surveillance. Not only do i grab footage from you, but i can also go to the neighbor's, get their ring doorbell footage too. Go to the police and then road council, grab traffic/road footage too. Eventually piecing everything together to track those people.
But you having CCTV on your facility, fence, gate does nothing. End of the day you're online, on twitter, asking people to identify a person they'll never know. But that person is already gone. Maybe in a different district by then.
My advice, for this particular country, for your average little business or home, INVEST IN ALARM SYSTEMS more than on CCTV. Hard for perpetrators to keep climbing up your fence or smashing in your door when there's a loud wailing noise that is waking everybody up. And with CCTV people now know to wear masks. Alarms give zero fucks about masks. They are a very effective immediate deterrent.
My little list for everyone reading this. Look into:
Magnetic door contact alarms. Good for when someone tries to force open a door. Some even have a plate where you can rest a padlock. Soon as that padlock loses contact with the plate, alarm. Some even have shock & vibration sensors.
Outdoor wall/fence motion sensor alarms. Pretty straightforward. They are triggered by motion, and lately they are so good they can differentiate between a person versus a dog, cat, bird that might just be perching on your fence or walking around your property so they don't sound the alarm unless its a person.
If you are to do CCTV, there's CCTV systems that combine both surveillance and alarm. Get those. Not these things you people are using. They are very ineffective post-crime. 90% of the people you're recording you'll never find.
@AutoTrendzUg Thanks for the info. Qn is; how practical or applicable is this in the Ugandan context, I've always been curious about this, even my Insurance lecturer back then didn't give me a clear answer. People get knocked and they're barely compensated. Is it because they don't follow up?
The day you realize downtown dealers can make iPhone seals and boxes locally is the day you’ll stop overpaying for second-hand gadgets in Kampala.
@UNBSug should look into this.
HOME.
The Artemis II crew has arrived back on Earth, ending a nearly 10-day journey around the Moon. The trip took them farther into space than humans have ever gone before, and now they're safely home with us.

Years ago, the answer was usually yes. Older batteries could suffer from overcharging if they stayed plugged in for too long. But modern laptops are designed very differently.
Today’s machines use Lithium‑ion battery technology along with intelligent power management systems built directly into the hardware and operating system. When your laptop reaches full charge, the charging circuit automatically stops sending power to the battery. Instead, the system begins drawing power directly from the adapter.
In other words, once the battery is full, the laptop essentially runs off wall power while the battery just sits there at its maximum level.
That’s why keeping your laptop plugged in most of the time won’t “overcharge” it. The charging controller prevents that from happening.
However, there’s a small catch.
Lithium-ion batteries don’t particularly enjoy sitting at 100% for extremely long periods, especially when combined with heat. Over months or years, constantly staying at full charge can slightly accelerate battery wear. This is why many modern systems include battery optimization features that intentionally keep the charge around 80–90% when the laptop is plugged in for long durations.
Operating systems like Windows and macOS even learn your charging habits and slow down the final part of charging to reduce stress on the battery.
Hello, Moon. It’s great to be back.
Here’s a taste of what the Artemis II astronauts photographed during their flight around the Moon. Check out more photos from the mission: https://t.co/rzM1P0QbOl
I have just met Samuel & Elijah’s mum. In the heavy rains she was still selling maize. The boys are also busy on the streets. I told her to look for the boys to go rest. I capitalized her business. The boys will attend school. They will not work for long hours. A smile was born.
This term I am not taking a broom to school as part of the requirements. Where do all those brooms go? Whenever it is my daughter's turn to sweep the class she will be going with the broom at home and she comes back with it in the evening we also use ko. Like that like that.

Last week, Bruce Tumwesigye (@BrucewilzUg) posted a prayer: “Let me reach @nextmediaug.” Today, we met at the #NextMediaPark. What hit me first was how much he speaks with clarity and purpose. This was on top of the proactiveness with which he put out that initial post
