Siadhal (@smagos) was on the product team @Uber during it's growth phase and his co-founder was a technical lead @PalantirTech.
He discovered a significant discrepancy between how data-driven companies operate their core business versus how they handle recruitment:
"It was so clear that that process was being done with so little data versus everything else that company did"
"Initially was I sort of felt like Iron Man all of a sudden where I had this amazing instrumentation and apparatus to help me be an amazing product manager".
"But then hiring...it was still done the way I'd seen it done at every other company I've been at which was get round your table and debate it".
"These are massive, expensive business decisions that were made devoid of data".
Siadhal Magos (@smagos) Co-Founder of Metaview (@MetaviewAI) says there is a quiet arms race happening in the recruitment industry around the potential for AI to manage applications:
"It's self-evident that you shouldn't have teams of humans scrolling through application after application".
"Recruiting leaders at high caliber companies would always get frustrated with that. They'd be like, 'I want you out there...hunting and persuading this person who otherwise wouldn't be considering our company to give us a go.'
"As a candidate, you can click a button, apply to a thousand jobs and see how it goes. It reminds me of if you're on a dating app and your tactic is just swipe right on everything".
"Organisations want a way to use AI to avoid the clearly waste of time applications but most importantly, over time, [to] build up a mirror - an AI that actually understands what good looks like".
