Hundreds of millions of people throughout the world are immersed in extreme poverty. Yet, disproportionate wealth remains in the hands of a few. It is an unjust scenario, in the face of which we cannot fail to question ourselves and commit to change things. There is no lack of resources at the root of disparities, but the need to address solvable problems related to a more equitable distribution of wealth, to be achieved with moral sense and honesty.
God does not bless any conflict. Anyone who is a disciple of Christ, the Prince of Peace, is never on the side of those who once wielded the sword and today drop bombs. Military action will not create space for freedom or times of #Peace, which comes only from the patient promotion of coexistence and dialogue among peoples.
As the genocide in Gaza grows obscured and muted, the evidence of apartheid practices keeps mounting: see the latest UN report exposing Israel’s asphyxiating regime on Palestinians in the West Bank.
I await the day the ICC issues indictments for apartheid.

#PersonOfTheYear@FranceskAlbs
In a year marked by fear, destruction, and deafening silence , she chose courage. She spoke truth to power.
Her clarity and refusal to dilute the truth remind us that human rights are not conditional, and justice is not selective.
Exactly two years ago, the University of Ottawa suspended me from my medical residency training in public health because of social media posts in support of Palestinian human rights. They framed my social media posts as “unprofessional”. The irony being that I studied the impacts of settler colonialism on health in Palestine during my public health training. They messed with the wrong person.
They later reinstated me, without any apology, so I left their racist institution to put my time and energy to places and people who actually deserve it. It’s been a year since I filed a human rights complaint against the university, and they continue to try to dismiss the case with frivolous motions with factual inaccuracies, but the court seems to acknowledge the value in hearing the case. It is blatant discrimination on basis of anti-Palestinian racism. I’m taking them (and the faculty member who doxxed me) to a provincial human rights tribunal to seek accountability and justice.
To anyone else who is facing similar forms of repression for solidarity with Palestine - remember you are on the right side of history. To stand against genocide is the most decent and moral position to take. To oppose genocide as a healthcare worker is the most professional position to take. Keep your head held high. The institutions will come around when there is no political or economic cost to oppose genocide. Until then, we will keep persisting and pushing back against bullies and racist institutions. Free Palestine, from the river to the sea.
Now on Parliament Hill: CJPME's @Alex4Solidarity joins civil society in supporting @JennyKwanBC's Bill C-233, the "No More Loopholes Act" which would stop the flow of weapons to Israel via the United States. MPs must support this bill to end Canada's complicity in genocide.
It took me four years to finally get around to watch The Chosen. Wow!
I wrote this short blog post about why you SHOULD watch it too. Thanks @thechosentv & @JonathanRoumie

Today the whole world watches, in shock and disgust, the escalation and acceleration of decades-old abusive practices and crimes inflicted on the Palestinians -by the state of Israel, its army and ideological settlers.
With absolute impunity granted by "the west".
This must end.
Dear @Pontifex,
Please go visit Gaza. We can't get in, but you can.
Please go, and don't leave until the killing stops and the humanitarian aid gets in. Please.🙏🙏🙏

She was a voice for the voiceless, fighting injustice and oppression—yet instead of honoring her, they punished and silenced her.
We stand in strong solidarity with UN Rapporteur @FranceskAlbs after the U.S. punished her for exposing Israeli and American war crimes in Gaza✊
The American people understand that Netanyahu’s barbaric war against the Palestinian people is grossly immoral and in violation of international law.
When will the Democratic Leadership have the courage to take on AIPAC and say: NO MORE U.S. MILITARY AID FOR ISRAEL.
Israel's genocide in Gaza is continuing unabated.
Over a month since the introduction of its militarized aid distribution system, the catastrophic suffering continues, and Israel continues to use starvation of civilians as a method of warfare against Palestinians in Gaza and to deliberately impose conditions of life calculated to bring about their physical destruction.
Israel must lift all restrictions and allow unfettered, safe, and dignified access to humanitarian aid throughout Gaza immediately.
In #Gaza, hunger is being weaponised.
People are fainting in the streets from hunger.
There is not enough water to drink.
The siege must be lifted.
Safe, UN-led aid delivery, including UNRWA, must be urgently reinstated.
