I had a great time speaking with the @BigBrainsUC Podcast about my work in economics, the importance of #DataScience in making decisions, and some of our ongoing projects at @center4risc!

Having trouble making a different decision? Prof. @StevenDLevitt says don't overthink it—and just flip a coin. The @UChicago scholar talks about his innovative research, the success of the @Freakonomics book and #podcast, and his unique spin on #economics. https://t.co/H61wHjpEjv

16 states have managed to introduce #DataScience basics to K-12 students without issue, yet a controversy erupted in CA with their math framework.
I wrote to @FortuneMagazine why I think the 3-year debate over math seemed to miss the forest for the trees: https://t.co/vHlOqVbDK9

What would you want to ask "Freakonomics" co-author @StevenDLevitt? Big Brains is interviewing the renowned UChicago economist on Oct. 5, and welcomes your questions by replying below.

Data is the new oil! Every student should learn some data science before they graduate high school.

@ZarekDrozda, who is helping lead the effort @dsforeveryone I helped launch at UoC, just wrote this piece for @hechingerreport

OPINION: The world is changing fast. Students need data science instruction ASAP https://t.co/EIEStxMgyN

My organization, the Center for Radical Innovation for Social Change (RISC), is looking for new Analysts! This job is for those interested in not just thinking about or studying social issues, but trying to be a part of creating real social good.

We’re hoping to test/pilot models of #datascience ed to see what works, and a coalition is building resources to empower teachers to do it @dsforeveryone. Teachers in stats, science, and more have been teaching the building blocks for some time. I bet we can go even further (3/3)

[Steve Levitt @StevenDLevitt]

I wrote a piece for @EducationNext with my @center4risc co-founder @JeffreySeverts on why I believe high school students need an intro to #DataScience before they graduate. It should be part of a strong math preparation (and other subjects too) (1/3)

[Steve Levitt @StevenDLevitt]

If we do things right, there is room for both Calculus and Data Science. Students I teach at @UChicago become expert in calculus, but are totally unprepared in data science. Students need a diversity of math to be prepared for college (or any career today) @DSI_UChicago (2/3)

Excited to congratulate the 30 winning teams selected for the ‘21-‘22 Learning Engineering Tools Competition! My team @center4risc applauds their innovative ideas, all which have potential long-term benefits for our students. Read more about the winners: https://t.co/q1KWdZTDtx

Thanks for an awesome conversation to @itsafronomics and @alieward on @Ologies podcast. Some ideas: fire your money manager, don't ask economists about #stonks, and we need to rethink the way we teach our kids. Also @itsafronomics would welcome tips on how to improve my Twitter.

Why is money 💸 scary? How is math taught wrong? How much💰should you save? Investing 101 & why opposites attract: IT’S ALL ECON.

How often do you see a social scientist make a prediction about what will happen over the next 20 years and then go back and see how things turned out?

@Prof_Donohue and I do that for abortion and crime in a newly published paper: https://t.co/V3rHxNK3dx

If 90% of all the world's data was created in the past two years, then why aren't we teaching data literacy in schools?

Take a look at this video narrated by @StevenDLevitt about why America's math curriculum needs to change...and what it can look like. https://t.co/Y20YMBomvy
