Absolute despair at the result of the RCM ballot. Whilst we voted by an overwhelming majority to strike (88%), the turnout to vote was not enough (47%). This means we won’t be striking due to legislation that is more restrictive than a ducks arse.
Rest assured, THIS IS NOT OVER.
It’s a very personal decision. I didn’t go into midwifery to become rich, I did it to make a difference but I would like to be paid what I’m worth!
To my fellow midwives - vote and exercise your hard won right to a voice! #iVoted#solidarity#DeliveraDecentDeal@MidwivesRCM
4 years ago today I graduated from @covcampus with a BSc (Hons) in Midwifery. Yesterday I was back in Coventry with my bestie @stmwsam01 shouting for the rights of my colleagues in the NHS. Something needs to give, and that something is not midwives’ health. #MarchWithMidwives

@hazard_leah @charlMidwife Midwives educate, support, listen and cheerlead. We advocate, celebrate and hold people whilst they cry.
Midwives are rockstars

@kiityc @hazard_leah @AIMSIreland Tell that to the MWs and HCAs who are doing feeling support, NEWS, blood sugars, parent education (including how to change the baby’s nappy, hold the baby perform basic cares etc), and the daily examinations!
@rachelburden bring a midwife at the moment is exhausting both physically and emotionally, frightening and makes you feel powerless. We are supposed to be caring for women and their babies - how are we supposed to do that when OUR basic needs aren’t being met?!
Glad to have been of service! All the children were brilliant and asked some amazing questions. Fingers crossed I’ve inspired some future obstetricians and midwives! Enjoyed normalising choice in all aspects of childbearing @BWH_NHS @KHPSCov
Call the midwife! Year 6 are privileged to have a visit this morning from Mrs Halliwell, a midwife at Birmingham Women's Hospital. She delivered a baby at 6.15am and the rushed straight over to teach us how babies are born!
@jk_rowling thank you SO much for the signed book off the back of #OneWorldTogetherAtHome
It was such a lovely treat and we are so grateful. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Sam, Phoenix and Rosie x
On behalf of Phoenix, Rosie and myself, THANK YOU for all of your amazing comments, love and support. This is a tough time for us, but we are getting through it with the help of some extraordinary friends, family and colleagues. BIG LOVE!! From The Halliwell’s ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Sam, an NHS midwife, moved to a hotel away from her family to protect her vulnerable husband while she continued to work during the pandemic.
There was a magical surprise waiting for her on One World: #TogetherAtHome ✨ @BBCOne@ClaudiaWinkle@CallTheMidwife1@JK_Rowling
