@earnestpost They were somewhat lied to about the world being fair, so they did not do obvious things to improve their status because they didn’t think it was necessary. Now they see they missed a major window of opportunity, and they want to blame something other than themselves
@earnestpost A lot of people have poor models of how fair the world is, and recalibrating later in life tends to be a painful experience
Similar dynamic happens in incel / red pill communities
@Nexuist 1-2. even while sober my psychomotor skills are subpar!
i've carried on lucid conversations while stumbling. meanwhile my friends who are walking straight are spouting gibberish and fail to recall any of it the next day
@DanielleFong@voooooogel@AnthropicAI black version would look better if the lines were flipped to white
the white one looks great though, i've ordered the hoodie
opus 4.8 thinks the RLM arXiv paper link its subagent returned was hallucinated because it ends in 2512.24601, and 24601 is a "the Les mis prisoner-number" 😳
@gfodor@MongeMkt yeah LLMs by design are doing a best-guess capture of your intent. there are no well-defined formal semantics to lower to machine code. so it boils down to how effectively they can guess at your intents, and how well-formed your intents are
@JackofTradesX@torvaman_@based16z@0xsmac@Hedgeye "represent the US economy" is not even well-defined. it's a particular representation of the US economy that takes a view of which factors are important. if you don't want to think about all that then you shouldn't be too surprised when you get fleeced
@torvaman_@JackofTradesX@based16z@0xsmac@Hedgeye to represent the US large-cap market using their discretionary judgment. nothing about that is a guarantee of persistent trend, or a even guarantee that their judgment will be accurate. you should really think more about what you're buying
@torvaman_@JackofTradesX@based16z@0xsmac@Hedgeye The S&P is selling a basket of stocks picked by committee. It is not selling "dampened upside" (dampened relative to what??) or any kind of persistent trend.
@beergnome1st@therealbigjonno@BowTiedPassport Classist, not racist. He’s speaking in the lower class Singaporean accent; his interviewers aren’t using it even though they’re Singaporean too, though they can almost certainly codeswitch
Thinking that all Singaporeans sound like that is, ironically, racist ;)
