@phlaimeaux Dual citizen here. Hills Hoist is Australian . . . Pavlova and Flat White are disputed. Evidence points to NZ for Pavlova and Australia for Flat White. It's ok to be wrong sometimes but this is an opportunity for growth.
@roryisconfused I live in Brisbane, Qld, Aus and it's very windy at the end of July which is also when Kate Bush (the wuther mother) celebrates her birthday so we dress in red and dance in a windy field to "wuthering heights" in perfect wuther weather. We wuther like no others.
@roryisconfused I had a copy of Heart of Darkness in which a previous owner had underlined every instance where Conrad was a dismissive of women and written helpful commentary like "disrespectful!" in the margins.
@KNEECAPCEOL Intent is no mistake. Getting caught is the only mistake they made, and even getting caught isn't the kind of mistake that will cost them anything. The colonial powers will continue to arm them because they're doing exactly what they were put there to do.
@wtb_Michael@bbboatclub I waited and watced the sunset at the pier, with dozens of tourists pressed up against the bars of the fence. This little guy showed up right before a sudden shower of rain just when I had to leave for the Palais. Atrocious photo but a perfectly plump pre podcast penguin!
@wtb_Michael I'm gonna be in Melbourne overnight for the @bbboatclub podcast Thursday. Any unmissable overnight Melbourne city bird opportunities? I'm going to try for the St Kilda penguins. Do you have tips for a successful sighting?
@roryisconfused It's a hangover from the schoolyard. Nothing was more important than social cred and nothing killed cred like cringe. Cradle your cringe. It's irrepressibly authentic and it's what makes you compelling as an adult.
@urthboy brains consume a lot of energy & we always look for ways to outsource or bypass thinking so this is unsurprising but we're also working more so we're probably at capacity. also steep decline in our sleep hygiene contributes and is exacerbated by our reliance on machines.
@Jeans_1039@hannahchrstina do you think the japanese meals we enjoy are only for the wealthy? i fully understand the history of pie crust. . . and most were designed to keep the contents warm when the servants took them up to the dining hall, so they weren't necessarily working class food.
