@millyjaurebello@TheSwiftSociety@taylorswift13 Those license fees go into a big pot. The organizations survey venues to see what music is played in what types of venues. Then they pay the writers some percentage of that pot based on their calculation of about how much their songs are played.

How it works is live venues (anywhere that plays music publicly like these stadiums, bars, cafes) get licensed from Performing Rights Organizations. In the US we have 4 @ASCAP@bmi@sesac & GMR. These organizations issue blanket licenses to the venues for a fee.
