The outcome here is great for employees but the real lesson here is that we shouldn’t need to rely on social contracts.

We have _actual contracts_ that allow we should use to address these issues and give employees protection. (1/3)

Really good and important outcome to restore tech's social contract. From Scott's post:

- 100% of Windsurf employees will participate financially in this deal
- 100% of Windsurf employees will have vesting cliffs waived for their work to date
- 100% of Windsurf employees will receive fully accelerated vesting for their work to date

There's no institution ensuring tech's social contract - just individuals who play a long game and care about their reputation. Too many defectors and the entire structure falls apart

“Doing right by you” would mean putting it in the contract (and few know that most senior folks are negotiating exactly that).
