@o_dub_ I used to have a similar habit of using “like” as a filler when speaking Spanish 😂

Some good alternatives are pues, o sea, en plan, a ver etc

Are there times when you’re speaking your TL that your native language comes out by mistake?

For me it’s either thanking people (maybe a British reflex of saying thank you for everything😂) or when getting angry 😅

@FloatingIdiomas Definitely!😂 There’s the occasional word or expression that I like to use in Spanish but if I’m really annoyed I’ve been told I sound even more British than usual hahaha

In England, most people start at 11 with either French or German (you seldom get to choose) but it depends on the school, some schools offer Spanish or Italian too

I did German for three years and then changed to Spanish

@marbondarec Of course in the language learning community we all want to be corrected and know how beneficial it is, but it’s important to bear in mind that in the real world many people would be insulted if I corrected their English mistakes 😅

@MLautmer I like German grammar, even though a lot of it can seem counterintuitive as an English speaker (word order, for example) there is actually a lot of logic and structure, and I find the grammatical cases both interesting and challenging
