Just heard from a friend that a bogus and baseless FIR for inciting terrorism and violence on "May 9" in Pakistan has been registered against me too! (in the last 24 hours) And against Sabir Shakir (TV Anchor/Vlogger now in London).
This combined with the FIRs against Wajahat Saeed Khan (New York) & Shaheen Sehbai (Washington) makes it clear that these bogus FIRs (registered 35 days after May 9, 2023) are not being registered because of what any one did or said (as was being argued against Maj. Adil Raja Sb) but through a well thought out script/plan that aims to intimidate & silence all remaining critics of Pakistan's military controlled regime from across the free world (UK, US and Canada etc)
In law this is called "after thought" - events happened on 9th May, almost 35 days ago and an irrelevant man registers a complaint against all of us 35 days later. This is just to fulfill requirements, in Pakistan, to create a basis, for lodging complaints in London, Washington and New York to argue that these men have been instigating violence from foreign soils against Pakistan. And that we have a complaint against them. The only goal is to silence dissent from journalists outside Pakistan - after totally suppressing Pakistani media.
This is politics of fascism! Pakistani Govt (as I analysed before) itself instigated public protests through a planned act of calculated violence against the former PM, inside Islamabad High Court, to divert the direction of Pakistani politics from "constitutional issues inside Supreme Court around elections & ECP" towards cries of violence and allegations of anti-state activities. This reminds students of history of Nazi utilization of burning of Reichstag in 1933!
Goal is now 100% clear: Junta wanted to take control of the political field and set the stage for suppression of all opposition and managed elections..
We the journalists (whose role in modern society is to criticize unlawful misuse of power) are being targeted to create fear and to silence us! I left Pakistan on 25th October under fear of my life! After the murder of TV Anchor Shaheed Arshad Sharif (Kenya, 23 Oct); I lived under this fear and report to a policing organization to protect myself and my family that includes two young daughters! @hrw @SophieHRW @amnestyusa @BBCUrdu @RSF_en @UNHumanRights @USIP @MichaelKugelman @MarkMazzettiNYT @nytimes @SangerNYT @nytdavidbrooks
I had also left written instructions to my lawyers in Pakistan to represent me for the cases that were registered before and that were expected later as its happening now! (as I anticipated) And I will be seeking serious legal help here too to fight back these false & baseless charges! And will seek help from my friends here!
