We often postpone meeting with God to an indefinite "later," as if tomorrow is already promised to us. But no one knows how much time the Lord will grant us.

The Holy Fathers say: one of the most dangerous tricks of the enemy is to instill in a person the thought: "Not now. Later."

Every time we silence the voice of conscience, the heart becomes a little colder. What is healed today by sincere repentance may turn into a heavy passion tomorrow.

Do not wait for special circumstances. The Lord is waiting for us today — amidst our worries, fatigue, and daily hustle and bustle.

Today is the most precious day for salvation. Do not pass by God's quiet call, for it is precisely now that the Lord is waiting for your response.

On this day, 22 July 1987, Palestinian artist Naji al Ali was shot by an unidentified person in London. He was struck by a bullet below his right eye and fell into a coma that lasted 37 days, until he died on 29 August 1987.

Naji al Ali is considered one of the most prominent Palestinian and Arab cartoonists and one of the most important artists who used political art as a tool to raise awareness of the Palestinian cause.

His drawings were known for their sharp criticism and boldness, leaving behind a vast legacy of more than 40,000 cartoons addressing Palestinian displacement, corruption, and social injustice. Naji al Ali created the character "Handala" in 1969 in Kuwait.

"Handala will always remain ten years old, because at that age he left Palestine, and when Handala returns to Palestine, he will still be ten years old!" After 1973, Handala turned his back to the world and clasped his hands behind him, rejecting external solutions and compromises, becoming al Ali's signature and a global symbol of Palestinian steadfastness.

Every morning I write about someone Iran just executed, within minutes, a message arrives a mother, a sister, a friend, begging me to write about their loved one who is on the death row. Before it's too late.

This is why I want to write before the execution of this young woman, not after. Arghavan Fallahi. 24 years old. Evin Prison. Sentenced to death.

Judge Salavati one of Iran's most notorious hanging judges, sentenced her under "Baghi," armed rebellion.

During months in solitary confinement, she was subjected to severe psychological torture and pressure to make forced confessions. But she refused. So they sentenced her to death anyway.

Fellow female prisoners who were with Arghavan inside Evin say her situation is urgent. The torture has left her with severe psychological trauma and physical illness. She is not just facing the death sentence, she is suffering right now, inside that cell. But is still alive and is still time to save her life.

Please join me and help us Iranians to say her name now and demand international community and the leader leaders of the world to put pressure on these that republic to stop them from executing her and other political prisoners.

💢 Palestinian Christian athlete and US citizen held without charge since June 2

Natalie Abudayyeh, 21, a Lutheran youth leader and member of the Palestinian women’s national soccer team, will remain in Israeli prison until at least September 23 after a military court hearing Wednesday, her church said.

Bishop Imad Haddad of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land called the ruling “incomprehensible,” saying authorities have denied every bail request and refused to let the family visit or contact her in any way.

She has been held nearly two months without charge at Damon Prison, where prisoners have reported severe conditions and repeated rights violations. Haddad said her family is “losing hope.”

The journalism student was seized at gunpoint from her Birzeit University apartment on June 2 alongside three other women. Among them was Sama Safi, a 20-year-old Palestinian American psychology student from Florida (image 2), who remains at Ofer prison. Her lawyer Lea Tsemel says the case rests on information likely extracted under duress. Safi’s family says she has a chronic condition requiring treatment she has been denied.

Israel was holding over 3,324 Palestinians in administrative detention as of June, among roughly 9,400 held as security prisoners.

Distressing Update from Bishop Dr. Imad Haddad on Natalie Abudayyeh: 22 July

Dear partners,

Today we received very disturbing news about Natalie Abudayyeh, the 21-year-old university student and ELCJHL youth who has now been held in Israeli prison for nearly two months. Though we thank each of you who have advocated for Natalie over the last several weeks, we are both devastated and outraged to share that our voices, and the voices of all others who have called for her release, have not been heard.

Today Natalie had an appearance in Israeli military court. During this hearing, the judge ordered that she remain in prison until the 23rd of September, when she will make another court appearance. Israeli authorities have denied all the family’s requests to have Natalie released on bail for the duration of the proceedings and have refused to allow them to visit or contact Natalie in any way. They are exhausted, troubled, and losing hope that the church, local or global, will be able to help bring Natalie home.

For Natalie to spend another two months minimum in Israeli prison is incomprehensible. She is still being held at Damon Prison, where prisoners have reported terrible conditions and repeated human rights violations.

We are incredibly grieved by this news and deeply worried about her safety. Within this grief, we hold fear and uncertainty for the future of all our youth. This pattern of systemic attacks by Israel on Palestinian universities is just one more element of an occupation that suffocates Palestinian life and drives our young people to consider leaving their home. I ask you to consider how it would feel to be Natalie’s parent, sibling, pastor, or friend. Our community is angry and hurting.

As a church, we continue to cry out for justice and for Natalie’s freedom. At the minimum, we call for her family and a church representative to be able to visit her. We ask that the family’s request for Natalie to be released temporarily on bail be reconsidered. We continue to pray without ceasing, and we ask you to continue to pray and advocate as well, both for Natalie and for all our youth.

The cloistered Carmelite Nuns of Wolverhampton allowed a 2-person camera crew into the monastery. This was the first time anyone other than a doctor or priest had entered in 90 years.

The footage is amazing. This is my favorite 10 minute section, especially when the youngest and oldest nun sit down and challenge the filmmaker about God.

Take a good look at this miraculous photo. It was taken in 1932, during one of the first Masses of a young German priest.
