@Tier1athlete@RunCoachTripp 25 meters….but I allow some to shorten acceleration zone or extend it depending on kid. My goal is for them to hit top end speed so it varies with each kid.
If you haven’t taught in a classroom post-Covid, you don’t know what it is like to teach the modern student.
The students have changed.
Teaching has changed.
You have to be in the classroom daily to understand what I mean.
The secret to getting faster --
1) Show up
2) Execute on your high intensity days
3) Show up
4) Respect your recovery day/s
5) Stay home
6) Embrace your off day/s
7) See step 1
speed is a skill. it gets trained like a skill.
most hs kids think running gassers and maxing squats will make them faster.
it wont.
if you want to drop 0.2-0.3 seconds off your 40 this summer:
→ 2 sprint days per week at 100% effort
→ flying 10s and 20s with full recovery
→ resisted sprints (hill, sled, bands)
→ single leg bounds and broad jumps
→ 20 min on sprint mechanics
12 weeks of this and youll be a different athlete.
To maximize Strength for Athletes, we need to prioritize High Tension at optimal speeds.
To do this we need to use Heavy Loads with Low Reps that force the CNS to discharge MUs quickly.
This allows us to train optimal sequencing and also only accumulate only stimulating reps.
SUMMER SPEED 🏈💨
Week 1 🧱
▪️MB Throw Variations
▪️Broad Jump
▪️Resisted March & Skip
▪️Resisted Sprints
▪️Team Races
One of the biggest mistakes coaches make in Summer Training is trying to prove how hard they’re working by crushing athletes Week 1.
Teach movement.
Build habits.
Establish intent.
Hammer the basics.
Lay the FOUNDATION now so you can build performance all summer long.
Many coaches are doing way too much volume in the weight room and have no idea
Here’s what you need:
- 6-8 exercises
- 20-25 total sets
- about 45 minutes of work
That will get the job done
Want to get stronger? Drive that bar faster.
Want to jump high? Push off the ground harder.
Want to sprint faster? Fight to reach that next gear.
The intent in which you do things, is more important than what you do. Intent drives performance.
I’m biased, but everyone should agree that Edwardsville is the track capital of Illinois. Since 2012, they have won 3 state titles and placed second 4 times.
Yesterday, Edwardville won their conference meet by 45 points, beat IL #3 Belleville East by 52, and beat IL #4 Belleville West by 65 points. Yes, unranked Edwardsville dominated two of the top four teams in Illinois. (Also beat East St. Louis by 93.)
Sometimes too much attention goes to the teams that have a couple phenoms, not the best TEAMS.
Want to use Edwardsville as a template to improve your program?
⚡️Hire the best staff in the state and keep them together.
⚡️Dominate the technique events: hurdles, LJ, TJ, HJ, PV, DT, SP (requires a terrific staff).
⚡️Dominate at the F/S level. Edwardsville won JV conference this year by 75 points and has won 10 of the last 11.
⚡️Feature the best uniforms in the state.
⚡️First-class schedule: never attend bad meets and travel when possible.
⚡️Promote during meets on social media (@TrackEHS) Take great pictures.
⚡️Stay up-to-date on All-Time Lists (all levels) and School Records (all levels)
⚡️Try to have the best website in the state (https://t.co/oFzInlM7jc)
⚡️4x1 Priority (past ten seasons, ranked #2 in IL; HF #1, PN #3). Speed is the tide that lifts all boats.
⚡️Dominate in XC (George Patrylak’s teams have won 10 of the last 11 conference titles).
FEED THE CATS! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
We’re officially 4 weeks away from the beginning of summer training sessions! See the schedule below and reach out to @JR_Sten23, Coach Larson, or Coach Meth if you have any questions. A lot of progress has been made this year, let’s keep it rolling for everyone!
