Heartbreaking scenes out of Effingham County, IL this morning. 💔
As first light broke, drone footage reveal the true, devastating extent of the storms that ripped through our area Wednesday evening. The path of destruction is staggering.
Here is what the view from above shows:
Homes Leveled: Several residences have been completely flattened into piles of debris, while others have had their roofs and top floors entirely sheared off.
Vehicles Tossed: The sheer power of the wind flipped heavy pickup trucks, cars, and trailers, scattering them like toys into fields and yards.
Widespread Destruction:
Outbuildings and agricultural structures have been shredded, with metal siding peeled away and debris strewn across hundreds of yards of farmland.
Shattered Tree Lines: Entire groves of trees have been snapped in half or completely uprooted.
Please keep the families and first responders in your thoughts and prayers today as the long road to assessment and recovery begins.
If you are out in the affected areas, please stay safe, watch for downed power lines, and give emergency crews the space they need to work.

Sally Field memorized the First Amendment as a child. The Oscar winner says she now understands "it like never before," stressing that "this fragile thing called democracy needs to be protected."
It is interesting to point out that “Super” El Niño events (NINO 3.4 SSTa > + 2C) have usually occurred in clusters, w/ “Super” El Niño events spaced ~ 10-15 yrs apart
The last “Super” El Niño occurring in 2015-16 certainly fits w/ that historical trend

After building a passenger train between Miami and Orlando, Brightline now plans to build America’s first true high-speed rail. The line would connect Los Angeles and Las Vegas in just over two hours, a trip that can take five hours by car. https://t.co/ywdj8W8868
Strongest El Niño on record this year?!
New ECMWF guidance shows a *75% chance of a super El Niño* by October, with some scenarios suggesting the most intense event in more than a century.
It will bring wide-reaching weather impacts that last into 2027 🧵
One distinguishing characteristic of “Super” El Niño, like this year possibly, is their enhanced ability to force climate regime shifts (CRSs). These CRSs can fundamentally alter certain components of the climate system for decades after the Super El Niño
