This isn’t the 1800s — it’s 2026.
I’m sharing this for two reasons:

1. I’m looking for a human rights attorney who handles racism and discrimination cases.
2. I’m looking for a counselor familiar with racial trauma and discrimination before I return to work.

But the damage was already done. My son and I were traumatized by the experience.

When we arrived in McAllen, the driver claimed she had asked her supervisor to fix the seating issue, but I had already contacted police to report the incident.

When the driver came back, she demanded I return to my assigned seat. When I asked her to show me where 14C was, she admitted again that the seat didn’t exist. Once I started recording, she suddenly said I could sit anywhere.

She assigned me to “14C,” a seat that didn’t even exist. I didn’t realize what was happening at first, but later, when only 5 passengers remained on the bus, I moved closer to the middle so my special needs son and I could sit more comfortably.

On Greyhound bus #87101 from Houston to McAllen, there were only 4 Black passengers: two women, myself, and my 4-year-old son. The driver placed all of us in the very back of the bus near the restroom.

When detention centers have no one watching over them, they almost always lead to abuse.
