@Third_worlderr@curtisdaly_ China’s a terrible example.
Their “low margins + expansion” is propped up by state banks and subsidies, not free competition. When capital actually has to earn a return, the same rule applies: sustained lower profits → less reinvestment → less expansion → business tanks
@salingergregor ...or they won't hire them and either not grow as a business, or they'll just invest in AI or automation and still get the work done, just without the entitlement attitude
@pauleholden I'm sure Goldman and Microsoft see the value in it otherwise they would just drop him. Why is it any concern of yours what non-government, NON UK companies are getting from Rishi?
@TheGNPE Most painful is the fact she firstly doesn't understand the question, then suggests this metric that could either prove or disprove her perspective....then vehemently denies the results of the metric that she herself suggested when she doesn't like the answer.
@Collectors_Way@alansritchie The government haven't moved the £100k limit in line with inflation, it would be over 150k otherwise since inception.
More people now hit this figure so in theory an easy pay day for government. But people are savvy and taper their wages down or emigrate to avoid this.
@m_zokov I work in sales and have to factor in inconsistent commission payments too. So it isnt even like a 25% bonus or similar that you work out...you need to work out what proportion of your salary you think should sacrifice into pension and then hope the maths work out
@Dannyboyo_@andyburnham You are asking how the government can allow this company that they don't control to make cost savings whilst conceivably boosting productivity and output that will help them remain competitive and profitable, even though they often already pay a 3% tax surcharge on their profits?
@RuralAlbtraum That £300k gross salary may deliver £2m in output, so a business would see the value there.
Then people like you act like that person should be over the moon with that deal. The reality is they provide far more than they take and yet they're being continually asked to give more.
@tcanham459@londonHenryGB@samtheshrimp18@AshyCompounds I have done a fair bit of travelling myself, and i do agree with you and the nun - there is a world out there and it is often far more exciting and fulfilling than debating fair tax for £300k salaries in Britian!!!
@tcanham459@londonHenryGB@samtheshrimp18@AshyCompounds £300k is "utterly unncessary" you say.
I'm sorry but it all depends on the value you give back. If you also know that 300k can be earned abroad with less tax payable then why stay in the UK and pay what YOU think is more "appropriate" in tax?
You come across so bitter.
@carla_denyer We are outsode of the top 10 countries for emmissions.
Jackdaw provides more security for direct and indirect job security for UK workers
Saves transporting as much from further afield, thus lowering carbon footprint
Will add next to nothing to our emissions as a country
@ThomasWillett9 If Sex Matters wins:
Trans women (biological males) → Ladies’ Pond: No.
Men’s Pond or Mixed Pond: Yes.
Trans men (biological females) → Ladies’ Pond: Yes.
Men’s Pond: No.
Mixed Pond: Yes.
Everyone can still swim in the mixed pond, Trans can still swim in single sex pools
@implausibleblog I can make up numbers too.
