⚫ Statement of Condolence

“Those who, when a calamity befalls them, say: Indeed we belong to God, and indeed to Him we shall return.”

It is with profound sorrow and grief that Al-Khoei Institute announces to the Islamic world and the religious seminaries the passing of Grand Ayatollah Shaykh Muhammad Ishaq al-Fayyadh (may his noble soul be sanctified), one of the foremost scholars of the Hawza of Najaf and among the most distinguished students of the late Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Abu al-Qasim al-Khoei.

He returned to his Lord after a blessed lifetime dedicated to scholarship and service, spent in the cause of Islam, the dissemination of the teachings and knowledge of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), and the nurturing of generations of scholars and students.

On this painful occasion, we extend our condolences to Imam al-Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance), the Supreme Religious Authority, the religious seminaries, and believers around the world.

The late scholar was a firm pillar of the Hawza of Najaf. He was renowned for the breadth of his knowledge, the depth of his scholarship, his piety and asceticism, and his unwavering dedication to his religious and academic mission. He embodied the example of a scholar who united learning, God-consciousness, and service to humanity.

We pray that Almighty God envelop him in His infinite mercy, grant him a place in His eternal gardens, unite him with the Prophet Muhammad and his Pure Household (peace be upon them), and grant patience and solace to his family, students, colleagues, and all those affected by this great loss.

There is no power and no strength except through God, the Most High, the Most Great.

مَلَأَ الْفُرَاتَ ثيابهُنَّ طَحَالِبا

الوَاشِمَاتُ عَلَى الخُدودِ أَهِلَّةً
الطَّاوِيَاتُ عَلَى الرُّؤُوسِ عَصَائِبَا

الْبَادِئَاتُ صباحهُنَّ بِبَسْمَةٍ
وَعَلَى الْمَهُودِ إِذَا هَجَعْنَ نَوَادِبَا

فَتَلَ السَّمُومُ قِوَامَهُنَّ ورَصّعتْ
شَمْسُ النَّهَارِ جِبَاهَهُنَّ ثَوَاقِبَا

أَنْتَ ابْنُ أَهْلِكَ وَارْتِدَادُ نَشِيجِهِمْ
نَحَتَتْ أَكُفُّهُمُ النَّسِيمَ قَوَارِبَا

البَالِعُونَ عَلَى المُرَارَةِ رِيقَهُمْ
الآكِلُونَ عَلَى العَشَاءِ نَوَائِبا

العَابِقُونَ مِنَ الصَّرَائِفِ حَرْمَلَا
وَمِنَ الدِّلالِ عَلَى الرِّفَاقِ أَطَايبا

To mark the blessed birth of the Prophet Muḥammad (pbuh), Al-Khoei Institute in Najaf hosted its annual celebration, bringing together scholars from across Iraq’s diverse Islamic denominations. The event was attended by guest of honour: Dr. Mustafa Cerić, former Grand Mufti of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
