@KeithSmithNBA@YossiGozlan@EricPincus Could the Lakers expand the Ayton trade into a 3 teamer with Chicago to include sextons contract in a s&t to reopen their room exception? Seems like they have an additional 9.5 million they can take back in matching rules.
I’m viewing this from the prism as a multi year build. As constructed too many holes 2 actually contend so build for the next potential chip. Ayton wasn’t in the long term plans so getting two future assets for him is good work. Project 2028 (when we will have 2frp)
FWIW I'd be surprised if three second rounds pick can dump Jarred Vanderbilt. Houston paid three 2nds to dump Dorian Finney-Smith and he only has one guaranteed year left. Vanderbilt has two and doesn't have the same "maybe last year was a fluke" upside.
Player options basically make them 3 years of team control. I think 2028 is the year we’ve earmarked to really contend. Gives the young guys time to develop, gives time to build continuity with the new guys and that offseason we have 2028 pick and 2035 pick to trade.
@jnavla The interesting thing to me is the 4 year deals with player options. That's basically more than enough runway to know if Carr and Theiro exceed a certain expectation and boost the team to a higher level.
I already expect Theiro to get 1-2 shifts a game this season.
With Drop coverage needing to clearly be on the menu how would Vando fit into a starting lineup flanking the 3 guards? I could see potential especially if Kesslers willingness to shoot the 3 is legit.
If I’m the Lakers, I’m buying pick 31 from the Knicks for some more cash. Draft Veesaar. Two cost controlled players that fit needs, you hope they both reach their potential here.
Cameron Carr's ball screen offense was very unique this past season.
His FG% by zone:
Rim: 35% 💩 (25% frequency)
Midrange: 28% 💩 (22.5% freq)
3-Pointers: 40% 🔥 (52.5% freq)
Film on his 80 ball screen shots and his shot chart:
With the new lottery rules I wonder what the reverse protections on our 2027 first (1-4) would be worth in trade… a team could bet against our health next season and if we end as a 9-10 seed they would have a 23% chance to get a top 4 pick. 12% chance if we ended 8th..
Darius Acuff’s team desperately wants him in Sacramento and there is a legitimate chance a trade will be requested if he is selected by Los Angeles at 5 or Brooklyn at 6.
