We're thrilled to see @KatherineKedz receive the 2026 GSK Award for Research Excellence 👏 Her team's discovery of the OLAH gene's role in severe respiratory disease could help improve how high-risk patients are identified and treated.

[GSK Australia @GSK_AU]

After an outstanding field of nominations from across Australia, Professor Katherine Kedzierska has been named the recipient of the 2026 GSK Award for Research Excellence.

The award recognises Australian researchers whose work has the potential to shape the future of healthcare through scientific discovery.

Professor Kedzierska, from the @TheDohertyInst and the University of Melbourne, has spent more than two decades working to answer one of the biggest questions in respiratory medicine:

Why do some people become critically ill from respiratory viral infections while others experience only mild disease?

Hear from Professor Kedzierska about how her research is helping unlock the immune mechanisms behind severe respiratory viral disease and why this year's recognition is so meaningful.

Congratulations Professor Kedzierska, on this well-deserved recognition.
