I spent years optimizing for a future where we’d burn 100k–1M tokens per second. Dashboards for dozens of agents, gamified UIs, VR with five screens, swarms, harnesses, loops, and on... and on. The control rooms worked amazingly. They also made me feel less human.
So I tore it back to three things: a leather journal for notes and ideas, grok bot to build on a headless server, and very limited laptop time to verify.
Same intelligence, not glowing at me. Real projects for real clients, and I get to live my life instead of serving the feed.
@JoshuaBarzon We did this very thing two years ago. I kinda miss the digital nomad lifestyle from time to time, but a few years at a slower pace is refreshing!
Im realizing an OS was never about the kernel. It's the layer that turns raw capability into something you can act through. For months now I've been producing software through a literal notebook and agents, most recently @bot voice. But a pen and paper is an OS too. Same shape, different substrate. What matters isn't what it runs on. It's what it lets you do.
Several months ago, I made an autocomplete library. Worked with keystrokes and voice. Multiple times per second, it'd predict multiple potential branches of what I was saying... not just the word, but whole sentences, ideas, etc based on past context, my secondbrain, etc. Then, AI would respond to those potentials, then predict my next response, then continually cull the branches of this tree as I actually spoke the ideas into existence.
It was excellent as predicting what I was going to say and getting to work on it before I'd even uttered the words.
@bot already finishes my sentences. Its almost there.
I was *right there* with you. Solved it. A leather journal and an ink pen. Fill a page, take a photo, its transcribed and my agents that run on a headless mac mini get to work. Thats step one. Step two, @bot voice calls.
It varies, but on an average day, I don't look at a screen until 2-3-4 hours in. Then, laptop to verify work, tidy up, etc. I'm trying to get laptop/screen time down to as little as possible. Its not a perfect flow yet... ever evolving, but I *feel* better, more productive, more like a HUMAN.
Following you now. I hope you find a bit of chill!
What's new in Grok Bot
0:19 Team bots - create bots shared with your team members
1:10 Finances - search and manage your finances with @plaid
1:32 Voice calls - @bot can search chats during calls and gracefully handles interruptions
Like this for a special bot animation on @X!
Dots has arrived. A few months ago, I would’ve jumped on board, tested, reworked workflows and the like.
Now I could care less. I have a system that works perfectly for me… why chase and complicate? A handwritten journal, @bot voice chat linked to all of my cursor tools, and no more than two hours on a laptop per day is all I need. The endless hyper-optimization is exhausting.
I think AI has hit the point that we can start living life again.
Dots are here!
A new way to use AI that works 24/7 for you; get more of your time and attention back to work at a higher level.

Grok Bot is now more powerful for building software.
Bots can hand off coding tasks to Cursor, manage your PRs with GitHub and Origin plugins, and share video demos of what they build.
@BenjaminDEKR He has solved it. Move to a medium-sized, no-name town and buy a decent house for $120-150k, get Starlink. Or, zoom out and look at the whole globe.
