@irasocol @ian_cushing @souljournertru Sorry, correction: the point is not to forget it. Society and, most of all, student teachers must *demand* such a shift in curriculum design for teaching courses. It's well past due. #bellhooks, #Freire, #Gramsci - these must be more central, not more marginal to #teachertraining
@irasocol @ian_cushing @souljournertru 100%. But try suggesting a 'Politics of Teaching' subject in any MA Ed course, practically anywhere. Or, better yet, integrating critical reflection on politics and power within every subject? Forget it.
@irasocol @ian_cushing @souljournertru It's 'teach to industry standards', 'teach to the test', and censor, censor, censor against anything that could be misrepresented as #CriticalRaceTheory, or anything that may make privileged white folks uncomfortable. Like, say, history. Or acknowledging power in the classroom.
How to write: Stop not writing. Sit at desk. Keep butt in chair for a while. Write any old paragraph. Fret. Write 1 more shitty paragraph. Get up, start some laundry. Back to desk, 1 more shitty paragraph. Fret. Check laundry. Sit back down, bitterly. Wait! You’ve written a page!
“In 2023, New South Wales will follow Queensland and Victoria, and add Auslan to the curriculum, for study as a first language or an additional language to students.” https://t.co/MGNL2d5neF
So good to finally have a foreign minister to be proud of! And one that understands the immense value of #multilingualpractices to the conduct of diplomatic communication. Bravo @SenatorWong

Lots to recommend about this critical discussion of multilingualism in Timor-Leste higher ed. Focus on petroleum studies lecturers reconciling ideological forces, and inherited 'the' colonial language problems, Portuguese and Indonesian, and English.

Yes. And don't forget designing and shaping those platforms of global discourse.
