@cryptid_collec@abbott_danieI Huh? The FF7 cast are all alive and still acting- is that what you are referring to or am I missing something? Ryan Lacina who now works at Sega worked at Square Enix during the FF7R recast and when he was hired at Sega, they began recasting the same way
@TidalFlameIX I wouldn’t mind changes if they were well executed- the storyline plot is not well written and it’s clear they created this plot to make future money for the next few decades. It feels empty.
An issue I have with this modern retelling of FF7 is the intent behind the changes.
Square Enix seems scared of giving Aerith a finite death out of fear of fans not purchasing the 3rd part. This plot seems driven by money & not the intent to have a strong, emotional story.
@Vara_Dark I think they need to define what a “wider audience” is because the changes they are making are clearly targeted to a specific audience I think based on what I’ve been seeing online
@rhysiare@radiuszero I feel this story could have worked if they didn’t do so much character fan service. It’s like they wrote the fan service first and tried to link it all together with poor writing.
@wpstart I do see that viewpoint, following around a dead character does remove the impact of their death. I’m looking at it more of an impactful story viewpoint along with keeping fans from tapping out
@Writer_BE_Wey Following Aerith and seeing what she is doing along with other dead characters removes the emotional impact of the character being dead, but I see what you are talking about. I’m looking more of a storyline impact view
Final Fantasy used to be a franchise that had a brand new universe with brand new stories and brand new characters that would change your life every entry 😭😭😭
@itsnotsolah@BeardAlmightyG That’s not the same type of example. A singer can change their genre because they create new content. It’s like taking Romeo and Juliette and rewriting it for modern audiences so they both don’t die and calling it “based on the original”.
