@asemota First generation immigrants will still build back home, it's the role of the second generation to build in the new country. They are more likely to retire 'home' as well, except if they support system they were banking on isn't there anymore.
2nd Gen immigrants, it's over to you
@AyoShonaiya If you follow that business killer instinct, them go drag you for am o. Keep your reputation intact. There are many ways to do business without being dragged
@DOlusegun If all your neighbors are severing their relationship with their former landlord and you think you're smart enough to see what they are not seeing; at least pause and think. Chad, Niger, Málì, Burkina...they are not Nigeria but they are all not stupid too
It was my delight to open the 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐇 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐛𝐮𝐣𝐚 this morning, joined by esteemed health leaders dedicated to tackling child mortality across Africa. A special thank you to Professor Samba Sow @ProfessorSow, whose visionary leadership laid the foundation for REACH, and to Mr. Bill Gates @BillGates for his steadfast support through the Gates Foundation @gatesfoundation.
Established with a shared commitment to save young lives, REACH operates in six high-mortality countries, including Nigeria, deploying azithromycin to significantly reduce child mortality. This effort aligns seamlessly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s @officialABAT #RenewedHope Agenda, which views health as a foundation for economic growth, and with the 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 (#NHSRII). Together, these strategies aim to improve population health outcomes by strengthening primary healthcare systems and implementing impactful, community-based interventions.
In Nigeria, we are leveraging the latest scientific insights to maximize the impact of REACH’s interventions while closely monitoring antimicrobial resistance. Our collaboration across borders and languages is laying the groundwork for a resilient health framework, vital for accelerating demographic and economic transformation in the region.
Despite the complexities of our context, the presence of delegations from Mali @GouvernementM, Burkina Faso @gouvernementBF, Niger @PresidenceNiger, Sierra Leone @Presidency_SL, and Côte d’Ivoire @Gouvci, here in Nigeria is a testament to the power of science and public health diplomacy, offering a shining example of what is possible when we unite in the interest of our people.
To all who traveled from far and near, and to the dedicated teams at the Secretariat at CVD Mali @cvdmali, thank you for your steadfast commitment. Together, we are shaping a future where every child has a chance to thrive. #REACHNetwork #NHSRII #RenewedHopeAgenda #AfricaHealth
