A historic milestone achieved!!!

Modi govt’s relentless efforts to establish permanent peace in the Northeast have added a new chapter of fulfilment as the United National Liberation Front (UNLF) signed a peace agreement, today in New Delhi.

UNLF, the oldest valley-based armed group of Manipur has agreed to renounce violence and join the mainstream. I welcome them to the democratic processes and wish them all the best in their journey on the path of peace and progress.

❗️Historical practice of #Kukis since British times, when nomadic Kukis raided/destroyed Naga villages and forcibly occupied them. During Dec 1917- May 1918 villages raided during night, many Nagas were killed and taken as slaves.

❗️She also highlight details of the barbaric incident of Oct 1964, when 2 dozen #Kukis forcibly entered a tribal girls hostel, singled out Naga girls and raped them repeatedly. 5 of the beautiful ones were raped more, who fell unconscious and rushed to the hospital in the dead end of night.

❗️In 1992-93, after a #Kuki was killed during a shootout with #Kuki and #Naga groups, the Kuki youths announced through loud speakers of the churches asking #Nagas to leave #Moreh town within 24 hours or face dire consequences, leading to mass exodus of #Nagas.

#Meiteis/#Meeteis possess a tightly-knit society, residing in the Manipur valley amidst towering mountains. This location, secluded and disconnected from the outside world, is encompassed by nine rows of hills and mountain ranges.

Similar to other tribal communities, we experience shared emotions of distress, fear, anxiety, helplessness, and an identity crisis. The arrival of Hindu Brahmins and subsequent conversion of #Meiteis/#Meeteis to Hinduism in the 18th century led to the influx of foreigners into Manipur, resulting in the separation of #Meiteis/#Meeteis residing in the valley from their brethren in the hills.

And despite certain sections of the #Meiteis/#Meeteis falsely claiming to be Aryans and descendants of Arjuna from the Mahabharata, it is important to note that we, as converted Hindus, retain our authentic mongoloid features, characteristics, and unique mannerisms. One such characteristic that can be considered as a defining trait of the Scheduled Tribe (ST) is our inherent shyness when it comes to engaging with the wider community.

The #Meiteis/#Meeteis have a tendency to keep to themselves when surrounded by non-Meiteis. They prefer to maintain a low profile and stay isolated from the crowd. However, when they come across one or two fellow #Meiteis/#Meeteis, they make an effort to socialize and enjoy each other's company.

Shyness often remains veiled, yet its psychological influence on the #Meiteis/#Meeteis is undeniable, leading to negative self-perception regardless of their well-defined social status. Although we excel in group interactions, a sense of unease and uncertainty typically follows once the conversation ends.

#Meiteis/#Meeteis also have a natural inclination to remain rooted in their ancestral lands, finding contentment and happiness in the places where their forefathers have resided since ancient times. They prefer not to venture into unfamiliar territories or interact with unfamiliar faces.

Additionally, their unwavering faith in traditional customs and practices, coupled with self-imposed limitations, contribute to their sense of contentment and reluctance to engage with the outside world.

Thus #Meiteis/#Meeteis fulfil the prescribed Lokur Committee's criteria , viz. Shyness of contact with community at large.

Is it permissible as per the constitution of India for an organization like ITLF declaring such anti national statement?

It seems that ITLF has been given a free hand to do whatever they want in Kuki dominated areas of Manipur. Ethnic cleansing of #Meiteis have been completed in Churachandpur, Moreh, Kangpokpi. If timely action is not taken, it will send a very wrong signal. How the destruction and demolition of Meitei houses to the ground in Churachandpur, is allowed?

Political aspirations of a few communities can’t be given at the expense of age old social fabric of coexistence in #Manipur.
