A student in Myanmar.
In ancient Greece, women were forbidden to study medicine for several years until someone broke the law. Born in 300 BC, Agnodice cut her hair and entered Alexandria medical school dressed as a man. While walking the streets of Athens after completing her medical education, she heard the cries of a woman in labour. However, the woman did not want Agnodice to touch her although she was in severe pain, because she thought Agnodice was a man. Agnodice proved that she was a woman by removing her clothes without anyone seeing and helped the woman deliver her baby.
The story would soon spread among the women and all the women who were sick began to go to Agnodice. The male doctors grew envious and accused Agnodice, whom they thought was male, of seducing female patients. At her trial, Agnodice, stood before the court and proved that she was a woman but this time, she was sentenced to death for studying medicine and practicing medicine as a woman.
Women revolted at the sentence, especially the wives of the judges who had given the death penalty. Some said that if Agnodice was killed, they would go to their deaths with her. Unable to withstand the pressures of their wives and other women, the judges lifted Agnodice's sentence, and from then on, women were allowed to practice medicine, provided they only looked after women.
Thus, Agnodice made her mark in history as the first Greek female doctor, physician and gynecologist. This plaque depicting Agnodice at work was excavated at Ostia, Italy.

The story of Zinaida Portnova, the 16 year old girl who took the lives of more than 100 Nazis by poisoning their food. She was captured by the Gestapo, and while being interrogated, she disarmed the Nazi detective and shot him in the head. In her attempt to escape, she executed two more Nazis.
A seventh-grade student at the 385th school in Leningrad, Zinaida became member of the local underground Komsomol organization, named Young Avengers, during the German invasion.
She became employed as a kitchen aide in Obol. In August, she poisoned the food meant for the Nazi garrison stationed there. Immediately falling suspect, she said she was innocent and ate some of the food in front of the Nazis to prove it was not poisoned.
After she did not fall ill immediately, they released her. Portnova became sick afterwards, vomiting heavily but eventually recovering from the poison after drinking much whey. After she did not return to work, the Germans realized she had been the culprit and started searching for her.
When she was captured in 1943, during the Gestapo interrogation, she took the investigator's pistol off the table, then shot and killed him. When two German soldiers entered after hearing the gunshots, she shot them as well.
She then attempted to escape the compound and ran into the woods, where she was caught near the banks of a river. She was executed in 1944.

The Burmese military sentenced 7 students to death for their anti-coup movement. These young activists stood up for freedom & democracy in Burma, they were falsely accused & didn't receive fair trial. The int'l community must do everything they can to stop these executions.
The situation in Myanmar remains critical. Leaders assessed that there was no progress in implementation of the 5PC. They have tasked ASEAN FMs to develop an implementation plan that outlines concrete, practical & measurable indicators with a specific timeline to support the 5PC.
"To be a bit more precise, it’s a fight between the entire population comprising all ethnicities of the country of 55 million people and a handful of generals, their privileged families, and their supporters and apologists", writes Naing Khit https://t.co/P4WIdtCBsV
What the hell: participation of @NUGMyanmar on a panel organized by an Indonesian NGO is vetoed by @UN so as 'not to appear partial' in a conflict pitting the teacher-beheading junta agst the democratically elected representatives.#WhatsHappeningInMyanmar https://t.co/RWbg952YrS
It speaks to the crassness of some business leaders that they embrace the Saudi crown prince despite his government's murder of Khashoggi, detention of dissidents, bombing of Yemeni civilians, and helping to fund Putin's attacks on Ukrainian civilians. https://t.co/yLVuZvazuV
