“Give them a massive amount of oil, agricultural land, copper, freshwater, and every natural resource in the world. Now make them neighbors with the biggest market in the world. Great, now have them leave the resources in the ground and instead flip condos to each other”.
One key point: You had to pour 10,000 hours of development effort into building your platform. Those sunk costs need to be accounted for and recovered via end-user fees. The next set of startups will build in a garage with three buddies and a large pizza. Yes, the other services need to be there as well—support, maintenance, HR, finance, etc.—but they won't be starting from the same deficit. Tech debt is a tangible thing for customers and software companies.
I am unreasonably excited about self-driving. It will be the first technology in many decades to visibly terraform outdoor physical spaces and way of life. Less parked cars. Less parking lots. Much greater safety for people in and out of cars. Less noise pollution. More space reclaimed for humans. Human brain cycles and attention capital freed up from “lane following” to other pursuits. Cheaper, faster, programmable delivery of physical items and goods. It won’t happen overnight but there will be the era before and the era after.
@wholemars@elonmusk Yes. Unfortunately, it's why we had to go non-Tesla to replace our Highlander. We love our M3 but there isn't a real Tesla option for a practical 3 row (X is niche and pricey).
Last night I used 4 cameras to capture the ultimate HDR view of the lunar eclipse
This 300GB image shows the lunar surface in extreme detail, while revealing all rich color that was projected onto the surface
